  1. Anne of Green gables....at least as an adult. I loved the movies. I tried to read the books recently and the girl would just not stop talking😏 Could be that I had a daughter just like that who talked and talked and talked....and I needed a break from that...even in my books.
  2. It looks like the back of my mini van is where it is at......
  3. I am working in picking up/organizing the house. One issue I am running into is where to put things that I need to return/give to others. I have: 4 horse magazines a friend wants 2 puzzles and a tub of candy that will go with me to work next week Clothes for donation A Rubbermaid container to return to a neighbor that is out of town A few things that need to go to dd that recently got married. This stuff is all cluttering up my house. Where do you keep this stuff so that it is out of the way but also not forgotten?
  4. I am feeling better blocking the sites....my issue is knowing which sites these are as they keep changing and new ones keep popping up.
  5. That is one I saw. It is the video chats that cause the most drama we don't need . Problem is these kids are smarter than I am
  6. My son has had some issues with internet access. He though really needs cell phone access as he often works at one site and needs to call for rides to another site ...or a boss needs to call him to arrange pick up times, etc. We currently have Verizon and I have a smart phone he can use. The issue is I want to block access to mature websites, inappropriate you tube content, and most importantly....all forms of video chats )FB video chats, Google ones , Skype and whatever else there is out there. Is there something that will work for what I need? I am willing to pay. Being able to use Google to search or watch you tube videos on fixing/repairing things is good.....just want to preemptively block "adult" material. We really need to stay with Verizon for phone service as it has the best coverage by far for the areas we live/work.
  7. T-tapp is pretty good. It is super annoying....but effective and doable for those overweight and/or out of shape, bad knees, etc. I figure I can tolerate it for 15 minutes 3 times a week. I will never say I enjoy it though.
  8. I would have loved yours too.....you can still do it.
  9. Before you officially graduate her, does your state/area offer any tech center type programs for highschool students? Our county has one with 28 areas of study from EMT, to computer design to electrical to agricultural studies.....yes, they have a program for learning agricultural sciences....growing plants and animals (barn with live animals) to the business side of running a farm to weather, science of seeds and fertilizer, etc. They have several focus areas to chose from. This is all free to non highschool graduates in our county. It is every day, half day for a school year. Some students go right into farming, others go to the State University where they study vet tech, pre vet, agricultural sciences, horticulture, etc. Something like this at the local or state level might interest her.
  10. Is this a game where you need to be quick? I. Looking for games to play with my kids but all 3 (plus son in law) have intellectual impairments and slower processing speed. So far we have done Left-Right-Center, Apples to Apples Junior, and uno.
  11. Picture of hike was Holland, beach was Grand Haven.
  12. I did some hard resets with provera. That helped. I went 18 months with nothing and thought I was free and clear. NOPE. Then very heavy....had to do all kinds of tests since it has been 18 months then nothing for 5 months, spotting for 3 days, another 8 months free, and guess what today🤦. Ugg Just don't do like a friend who had fibroids and avoided surgery (honestly had good reasons due to family stuff) and got to the point where she almost needed blood transfusions she was so anemic even with iron. Had surgery and is much happier now.
  13. This year we simplified the meal. My brother and SIL did 2 large beef roasts in crock pots, 2 pans of cheesy potatoes, and corn. I brought rolls, left over pineapple fluff, pop and sweet munchies. We all had plenty. Roast was delicious. Cooking, serving and clean up was easy. I was going to make cheesecakes but honestly, we all were full and didn't miss them at all.
  14. I'm, nope. I don't even go in Lake Michigan in August. It was nice though walking at the beach with my hoodie on. Now, spring break we might still be skiing but...... Honestly, it seems like winter is coming about 4 weeks later than it did when I was a kid, but also staying 2-4 weeks later in the year
  15. Today was a balmy 56° and sunny in West Michigan. Until this week we had seen 2% of available sunshine so more than a few minutes of sun is exciting. I took a walk with my SIL, DD and Son in law. Beautiful hike over looking Lake Michigan and I survived 440+ stairs on the hike. Then tonight was a sunset walk on the beach. The surfers....yes, surfers on Christmas day in Michigan, were just coming off the lake.
  16. Can you download anything you want then? Is this the same as the Amazon prime video or a different plan/more $?
  17. Are there legal ways to get cheap/free music on an iPod/mp3 player? My son doesn't have a cell phone but would love music.
  18. I went to our Walmart yesterday (12/23) at 8:30 am and it was almost empty. Self checks had no lines. Regular checkouts had one person in process ahead of me. Almost no one in any of the aisles, etc. Then again our Walmart is rarely very busy and is a super nice and clean store.
  19. I know that some in our area have levels of care and if they live there for 3+ years they will accept Medicaid as payment....which is nice if the money might run out.
  20. I just caution you about having someone else help him with bills, etc. Many seniors lose a lot of money that way. Dishonest workers can take advantage.
  21. That is great. My reading time is much more limited too. I sorta participate. Occasionally I will comment but mostly I just read the threads to get book ideas for future reads.
  22. Thanks. That helps. The 12 inch is cheaper than the 10 inch. Does it matter which one other than finding a frame the correct height?
  23. My kids have Tuft and Needle mattresses and love them. I am looking for a queen size mattress and frame for my guest room. I am thinking it will get 10-20 days of use a year so not much. Might be a single or a couple. What one would you buy for that? Tuft and Needle is great but too expensive for the guest room. Are there any you have bought and liked from Amazon? Once I know mattress thickness I can buy a frame for it. Thinking maybe just a simple platform type frame.
  24. Well inspection didn't happen. It was supposed to be 2:30-4:30 today. I called at 4:50 and lady told me it had never been scheduled 😒. I texted contractor and he assured me it had been and had the proof. That doesn't matter much at 4:58 on a Friday of a holiday weekend coming up. Lady said we could have occupancy anyway since all other Inspections were done.
