  1. Does it provide just a digital file? Do I need it or is just paying for the digital file that same thing? Thanks! (Anyone have this to sell?)
  2. Can I get the answer key somewhere? I was excited to get the 1988 text so inexpensively on amazon used, but not having answers is a bummer!
  3. I had a uti recently and had pain there. The doc said it was actually from constipation and was lower than my kidneys. Could it be constipation?
  4. Last year I made a very inexpensive ($4 with a coupon I think) photo album on clark.com of our pix from just the previous year. Clark shipped it to my mil. She loved it. It only took me one evening. I literally imported the photos and let their software drop them in place and hit print. First I created a folder on my computer of "best of 2011" photos. Then I imported them. This made it easy. I should do it again for 2012 pics!
  5. Valerie(TX) - so would you wait for morning for optometrist or go to urgent care?
  6. Any ideas? She doesn't wear glasses or contacts. It started at bedtime last night. We tried splashing water in it and also put some homeopathic pink eye drops in it (although it actually doesn't seem like pink eye if I remember correctly.) Do I need to bring her to an eye doctor? I've never had this happen to us before. Thanks!
  7. This might be totally irrelevant, but my dd16 is exactly like this. Except that in her case, we happen to know that she has Fragile X Syndrome. If it weren't for a nephew very affected by Fragile X, we would never have figured this out. I know part of this is temperament, but for our dd, we don't think it is going to change. I battled it for years. At some point I decided it really had as much to do with her Fragile X as with her. And I just decided to love the child I have. Our relationship is absolutely beautiful now and I am so thankful I decided to stop butting heads. How much of what I was fighting for really mattered anyway? It was always my way that had to be. Anyway, I find myself often wondering what genetic mutations the rest of us have and how much does that affect who we are. I think if there is room for us to bend as parents, to say yes way more than no, we might want to for the sake of having children who can come to us about anything and feel loved and secure.
  8. My very favorite gifts of all time are from my sister who sews. The most priceless is my quilted Christmas tree skirt. I love it. She made it nice and big so it really shows. On every panel she machine embroidered one of the 12 days of Christmas. But, what I really wanted to tell you about is her potholders. They are the BEST and I don't think they are too terribly hard. But every year it is my hope that I'll get a new set. It took years, but I now have enough to only use them and have actually worn through my first set. They are heart shaped. One side has 2 overlapping pieces into which you put your hand. So you fold them in half inside your clawed hand. They work better than any store bought pot holder I've ever had. And she is a master at fabrics. One pair of mine have chocolate covered strawberries on them because when I was younger, she flew me to Orlando to "watch her kids" but really it was just a huge blessing to me to get to go to Disney with her and her kids. And the hotel put chocolate covered strawberries on our pillows at night. Hence the potholders. They are a daily reminder of a very special sister and a very special trip. So, I vote that you crazy quilt her potholders for gifts and where you can, use fabrics that match the person's home or tell a tale. That would be a gift I'd absolutely adore.
  9. Sorry - I misled you. I forgot how long it took at the beginning. Once the proteins are out, it is very obvious when they've had dairy if it causes bedwetting. But it does take like 6 weeks to get all dairy out of system and I can't recall how quickly the bedwetting stopped as we stopped dairy.
  10. I wondered if you thought it was beneficial, etc. And what do you do currently? Did you stay on the supplements longer-term? What else have you done that has helped? Thanks.
  11. I read this yesterday and remembered to post here for you today: http://ezinearticles.com/?Free-Brain-Training-for-ADHD&id=5717516
  12. btw, how do we give stars? All I know how to do is hit the "like this" button.
  13. I just wrote a check to someone. I only wrote half of her last name. I noticed bc/ my carbon has just half of it and now I remember stopping while writing it as I was thinking about the spelling of it. I must have gotten distracted. Then I gave it to her like that and she drove away. That's today. I think I do something stupid everyday. Perhaps the dumbest was the time my husband said he didn't really want me pulling between cars parked in our parking deck to exit the fast way from the deck. That same week I was in a rush. There were only a few cars, but one was right in front of me to the right and a wall was to the left. I decided to squeeze through just this once. Stupid, stupid, stupid. The truck's bumper scraped my side of my van. I panicked and backed up, deeply running the bumper further in and then catching it into my wheel well. Then I had to go tell my husband and the new neighbor. He had moved in the NIGHT before! And they had to remove my tire to get the truck's bumper out of my wheel well. Of course I was hours late for the thing I was rushing for and have never lived it down in my own conscience. My husband is super nice and never said a single word. Nothing. Just cheerfully fixed it. The repair was $1600. It does make me remember not to rub stuff in that he does. Grace is a beautiful thing when received ; )
  14. marksdailyapple is a great paleo site. if you have Trader Joes near you, they have GF oats and rice noodles that my kids love, and organic corn chips. Their stuff is non-gmo. We don't buy breakfast cereals, just oats. Besides potatoes and rice, they get no other carbs. We eat paleo and they get those extras. Those who needed to lose weight did. The two with food allergies are doing great. Hope it goes well!
  15. I'm so sorry. Can you try totally paleo? I love marksdailyapple and I let myself have a treat on one weekend day, although it makes the next day much harder. I had to give up all diet sodas. Also, read about consuming a good amount of coconut oil in your diet. Many people find that the more of it they eat, the more they lose. No grains, no peanuts, honey not sugar, no dairy. The 7 day email lessons from marksdailyapple helped me too.
  16. Also, can they test for a uti? I got my first ever this year. It was a kind that doesn't cause any pain, but causes incontinence. I happened to be out of town on business. I literally wet uncontrollably mid-day several times before heading to urgent care. I'd have to suddenly squat down to stop the flow. It was horrid. I'd ask him privately if he wants to wear something so no one knows. If it is a uti, d-mannose from any vitamin store in quadruple doses all day will stop it very quickly. Now I use that and not antibiotics. it is a sugar that feeds on the e-coli. It doesn't affect diabetes or anything too. I read about it online in my desperation to stop getting them.
  17. The other thing that comes to mind is dairy allergy. This would be easy to rule out in just a few days. If you could switch to almond or coconut milk and give no dairy at all you'd know quickly. But even a morsel of dairy would cause wetting if this is the issue. It is the most common cause of wetting - see even the goodnights website from pull-ups for verification. Bc/ trauma can cause GI issues or exacerbate them, I am guessing it may further incite this. My son has this. He is adopted. If he even has a burger left on a plate next to a burger with cheese and the cheese bumps his burger, he will wet the bed. It is shocking how little will affect him.
  18. It does. And right now those are a big part of our paleo diet.
  19. I guess I should have said why I was asking only about Paleo AIP. DS is allergic to eggs and dairy and has leaky gut. We've done regular paleo without dairy and eggs for a year. But he need the AIP to heal his gut. Thanks. I do like Everyday Paleo. I just hoped some folks here would be doing the AIP and could offer some ideas. AIP is hard bc/ he can't eat nightshades including nightshade spices. That eliminates most of the meals we've enjoyed this year. No dairy, eggs, sugar, grains, nightshades is HARD. I haven't found another healing solution that seems any easier though. GAPS is hard too and immediately introduces eggs and dairy, but he can't eat those.
  20. we leave the door open during the day too. when we got it friends told us that. I can't believe the mold. It is so gross.
  21. I'd love to have help compiling a month of meals. I did buy Practical Paleo, but I just can't make myself eat canned salmon. I don't even eat frozen salmon or tuna fish from a can. I need help on breakfast and lunch mostly, but some dinner diversity would be wonderful! Thanks!
  22. We had a 12 year old washer/dry set when we splurged for our front loading w/d from LG. It was rated highly. We leave the door of the washer open every night but don't dry it all out in the gasket. We do run the bleach cycle. It is now growing black mildew and stinks. I just can't believe all of the world is carefully drying their gasket every time they run theirs. Do you? Has anyone gotten any company to refund any of their money on these horrid inventions?
  23. Have you read any of the Diane Craft stuff about diet and behaviors? I know ultimately kids make choices and should be held accountable, but have learned so much in the past year about how diet affects our temptations. I can pinpoint now if someone gives ds red dye, dairy, etc. It is unreal how his behavior changes. Here is a faq about this: http://www.diannecraft.org/biology-of-behavior-faq-update-part-1/ and you can find more online. It has been a really hard year for us, but helpful to learn what ds's triggers are. Give him just 15 minutes of wii time while I am gone, and I promise you I'll know without being told. It just messes up his brain and he goes bonkers. I have other kids who can handle an hour of wii without obvious struggles. We've removed all processed foods and dyes from his diet and gluten and dairy. Also, read the study about Nurture and Clarity and the one about EyeQ, both were enlightening. We do the triple dose of good quality fish oil. I first read to do that in the eyeQ study, but recently saw it on Diane Craft's site too: http://www.diannecraft.org/fish-oil-as-healing-brain-food/ A friend told me 90% of her son's behavior issues went away when she pulled him off of dairy. I think there is a lot more to behavior and what we eat than we realize. HTH!
  24. I agree too that if the college savings is in something you could use without penalty, I'd put that towards the loan too.
  25. Do you have an active Craigslist in your area? We have an expensive, nice home, and have purchased all of our appliances off Craigslist at fabulous deals. I'd get the oven there and even see if you can get a deal on some used cabinets. We had red oak cabinets that we really didn't love. For a few thousand dollars, we had them washed an espresso color and now are very happy with them. A new kitchen would have cost at least 10x the amount we spend replacing appliances and doing the cabinets. Our glass stove top just broke and we got a new one, currently sold at Sears for $1250 installed, for $475 on craigslist. Hubby installed it in an hour. So my vote is a small amount of money to improve the kitchen and the bulk to pay off the loan.
