  1. I have not "googled" it, but I know 2 women who are currently in relationships where the husband punishes them for wrongdoing. (takes away their keys/cell phone, sends them to their room, etc. I can't imagine a womean "consenting" to discipline...it is a form of domestic violence pure and simple. One woman was "disciplined" so severely that she couldn't walk upright. She couldn't go to work for 3 days... :glare: We finally convinced her to leave her husband and file a protection order.
  2. :iagree: - Cuisinart rocks!! I especially love the stainless thermal carafe. Our machine brews the coffee then turns itself off. The coffee stays hot for hours and doesn't burn on. :)
  3. Have you looked at this blog? http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/
  4. Haven't read the whole thread...but I would *NEVER* buy a house that had carpeting in the bathroom. YUCK!
  5. If I was buying the items you need NEW, I would shop either CBD or Amazon. :)
  6. This is REALLY high. :001_huh: My oldest DD took 2 CC classes and we paid less than $200 total...that was course fees and books.
  7. I currently have a Verizon talk/text plan -- I think it runs out in December. Verizon doesn't work well in my area, so I can only use it and get decent reception when I get about 10 miles from home. I'm considering going with Straight Talk and I'm wondering if they have a US Cellular option. (US Cellular is the best coverage in our area.) Do you know how to tell by looking at the serial number?
  8. I have colored my own hair for years. That being said, I had one go bad. I consulted a hairdresser friend and was told that color will not lift color. So...if the color is too dark, you will need a two-step process. (color to blend in the roots and then highlight to get the lighter color you're looking for) It is not something I would attempt at home...
  9. Thank you for this!! :) Does anyone know if these changes apply to business plans as well?? :bigear:
  10. :iagree: I have a lot of issues with my cycle (PCOS) and my doctor recommended Aleve over ibuprofen for a couple reasons. He maintained that ibuprofen actually thins the blood and can make bleeding worse/heavier *and* ibuprofen is pretty rough on stomach, kidneys and liver...especially at higher doses.
  11. yes...all five of us are right-handed...we put our towels on the right side of the sink. :)
  12. I'm going back to TOG in the Fall... I'm doing it to keep my sanity. :tongue_smilie: I have been juggling too many programs/pieces/schedules and it just makes sense for us to all be on the same page. I've joined up with a virtual co-op and I am looking forward to "sharing the load" with some other TOG Moms. :grouphug: to you as you decide what is best for your family.
  13. Sleeping in is not an option here... We have farm animals that have to be fed/taken care of. Everyone is "on deck" early. Breakfast is at 7 AM -- after chores.
  14. I know someone who is expecting identical twin boys. She is planning to name them "Brady" and "Braydon". While I don't like matchy names, I don't think it is my place to question the names her and her husband have chosen.
  15. I can't comment on the updated version, but we used the BF History of the Horse several years ago. DD loved it -- and we learned a lot more than just horses!! ;) I also purchased and supplemented with a horse lapbook kit. (I think I got it from "Hands of a Child".) DD is very proud of her notebook & lapbook to this day...she keeps it on a prominent shelf in her bedroom.
  16. Get the 'Burb. :) I had one before getting a minivan...HATED the minivan. Now we're back in a 'Burb. I prefer the bench w/ the flip up. The captains chairs are too hard to climb up and through the middle to the back seat. I can stand on the running board, lean over the flip up, and to the back seat to buckle a child in the back. No problem...and I'm only 5'4".
  17. :iagree: -- I *love* LLBean's backpacks. You pay a little more, but it is SO worth it. (They have a warrantee...)
