  1. We love Foundations. I would say start with A and just plan on moving through them quickly. My son is six and was not reading when we started. He has finished A and B already starting on C.
  2. Logic of English Foundation B and C and Rightstart math B are a must for my crazy active 1st grader.
  3. I do not think that tutoring is overwhelming. I find it pretty easy to prepare for, most ideas off pinterest or CC connected. I do set Sunday's as my planning day but normally does not take me more than 30 minutes. I teach 2nd and 1st graders using lots of songs and movement. I do use CC and our main curriculum source. I read SOTW or Child's History of the world chapter that goes along with the history sentence for the week. We try and do the same with science. I did a lapbook this semester. I am still looking something for physics for next semester.
  4. Yes they memorize Newton's law, states of matter, difference between an acid and a base, forms of energy, characteristics of light, laws of thermodynamics, how heat flows and units used to meAsure electricity. It is my job to try and put meaning and understanding to the memorization. I have not found an elementary curriculum to help me with that part yet.
  5. This is our second year and it is absolutely the best decision for our family. I have four kids in foundations and two in essentials. I tutor to cover some of my costs. My kids look forward to Tuesdays as do I.
  6. So CC is starting physics in its memory work. I would like to find a curriculum that matches to some extent. It would be for a 5th and 4th grader. Something easy to implement and do able.
  7. LOE has my son loving his reading lessons. The games really make it.
  8. We are using Foundation level for my 6 year old. So far he has completed level A and is a couple lessons away from finishing B. He was not reading before we started A. We tried a couple of different programs with no success. He did know his letters and sounds. I am excited about his progress. He should finish Level C at the end of the year. I just love this program. I feel it is very open and go. I do no real prep before we start the lessons.
  9. I am wanting to get my 9 year old dd a great present this year. She is getting a telescope from her grandpa. Now I am not sure what to get her. She likes all things science.
  10. Thank you. I just ordered the Learning box. It is expense hopefully worth it. It looks awesome.
  11. Just wondering what to be looking at my DD is almost finished with GSL. I am not sure what to get her next for her Latin Studies.
  12. I do not know if what I am looking for even exists. I have a preschooler who is turning 5 in a month. I have three other kids ages 10,9 and 6. He is just dying to do school with the big kids. I basically need something that is totally pulled together for me. Something fun he is not ready to learn to read. I would love something that incorporates good books but fun crafts and activities too. I just need it all pulled together for me. Basically if a paper plate and construction paper are needed it is provided. Does that exists?
  13. I am in our second year of CC. We have done other co-op before and it just was not fitting our needs. I found that the other mom's teaching were ill prepared or the kids were unruly. We just love CC, the family feel, the accountability, etc. I can not see us leaving unless the kids in up in public school. But that is my family, you could always try another co-op and come back to CC later. Or join another co-op along with CC. The other co-op could be the fun one...CC the academic.
  14. For Essentials you need the Essentials guide and IEW medieval student book. You also need to download the student resource guide off of the IEW website (which is free after you buy the medieval student book). Foundation- you need the guide and tin whistle. Nice to have items would be the timeline history cards and audio cds. You also will want to sign up for CC connected.
  15. My kids love these!!! I would jump on it and buy them.
  16. Well have not found it yet. I am going to give Life of Fred a try in the fall. I also bought Math Mammoth and a something called "I love hands-on Math" . Hands- on math looks promising for her. I am using a grade level lower than she is in just to boost her self- esteem about it. http://www.rainbowresource.com/product/I+Love+Hands-On+Math+Grade+3+Student+Ed/044737/ccbc91f63976d4d53661cef6?subject=10&category=8321
  17. My 9 year old dd was diagnosed with PDD-nos at the age of seven. We knew that something was a little off with her but never guessed it was ASD. I use to work with kids with Autism and I never saw it. But now that I know it makes perfect sense. She can be a lot to take at times but is a very sweet kid. I am sure that once you seek your evaluation your questions will be answered. Hugs to your family
  18. TT did not work here. It got to hard too quickly. The number of problems was also an issue here.
  19. ABC reading eggs is a favorite here.
  20. I have ordered and not got emails. They will send you an email once it is mailed with a tracking number.
