  1. If you used this course, did you purchase the book they sell, or were you able to use resources you already owned? Just wondering if there are any readings in their book that are unavailable elsewhere but essential to the course. Thanks!
  2. I use wine (you could use some of that blueberry wine you are drinking:001_smile:) and a few drops of dish soap. I don't bother with the plastic wrap. The combination of soap and wine does the trick without it.
  3. I leave a small container of sweet wine mixed with a drop of dishwashing detergent (Dawn) on the counter.
  4. Is the teacher's manual needed for the Abeka, or would the answer key alone be sufficient? Thanks
  5. Thanks for the link, Beth. I've never seen that method before, and it does look easy.
  6. For anyone interested in a NOOK, I just received an email noting a price decrease. The tablets are now $199 and the Nook Color is $169.
  7. I tried twice and was never contacted, although it could have something to do with when I tried. I guess late August early September might not be a good time.:tongue_smilie:
  8. We are using it here. My dd and ds like it so much they want to keep the book when we are done. I sure wish my dd felt that way about her math curriculum.:glare:
  9. Same experience here except we left Dish and went with cable.
  10. Sounds delicious. Please do continue posting each week. I am definitely in need of some new recipes.
  11. You can also use a small piece of a nut (pecan or walnut). Jam it into the bait holder and cover it with peanut butter. With the glue traps if you want to do a catch and release, it is possible. You can sprinkle dirt or sand onto the glue around the mouse. You might need a stick or some other object to help him get loose, but I have used this method to free the mice I have caught using the glue traps. Not saying they won't find their way back to your house, though. :glare:
  12. Has anyone used this program for SAT or ACT prep? If you did, did you purchase the standard or premium package? Were you satisfied or not? Thanks in advance for any replies. http://www.eknowledge.com/powerprep-promo.aspx
  13. We have had an in-ground pool for 7 years. Ours is right out the back door.:001_smile: We don't regret that at all. I do regret not getting a slide. I would recommend you do your research carefully. The pool company that installed our pool came highly recommended from a coworker and they did a terrific job. Since they were located an hour away, we decided to go with a local company for our chemicals. Big mistake! After dealing with this company for two summers and spending way too much money on chemicals, we were becoming quickly discouraged and regretting installing the pool. It was a LOT of work and it was costing us a small fortune in chemicals. The third summer we heard about another company outside of town, a family owned and operated business. My, what a difference! They took the time to explain to us what the problem was and how to take care of it. And it wasn't costing us an arm and a leg. It took all that summer to finally get our pool straightened out, but it has been very easy to take care of since and much less expensive. Yes, we were getting ripped off by the previous company and we make sure to warn others about them. Now, we use ProTeam chemicals. On Saturday evening I add two lbs. of shock and two tablets, and Wednesday evening one bag shock and one tablet. Once in a while ph decrease is needed depending on the amount of people using the pool. If we get heavy rain, I might need to add some extra shock. We have started using a product to prevent mustard algae since that has been a problem for the last few summers. Before closing for the winter, we use a winterizing kit and then cover the pool. When we open it in the spring and take a water sample for testing, the water is perfect and we go from there. Now, I can almost tell what the pool needs just by looking at it. (Thanks to the wonderful people we are working with now and who have educated me over the years.) We checked into converting to the salt system, but it would be too expensive for us to switch over. Apparently it is better to start off with the salt if that is the way you want to go.
  14. I have used the Calibre program to download the free ebooks and convert them to the type of files used by the Kindle. It's free to download.
