  1. The instructions worked for me. I ordered the Digital Courseware w/ Virtual BioLab 1-year student license and Online Teacher Access Pack with Virtual BioLab. I received a hard copy of the book, which I wasn't expecting, along with the teacher access code. I have no idea what the difference is supposed to be between the "on level" and "core", but I do know that the ISBN numbers for what I ordered are the same for both.
  2. I did find this on of their FAQs pages. Q: What’s the difference between a Digital Course or Courseware and a Standalone eText? A: Digital Courseware products include the online and mobile eText plus all other online course materials for students and teachers such as assessments, games, activities, animations, videos, lessons, etc. The online eText portion of the full digital course can be accessed on mobile tablets as well. In contrast to full digital course, the standalone eText product offers only the digital textbook (in both its PC/MAC and mobile versions) without any online course materials, and at a reduced price from the complete Digital Courseware. This makes me think everything would be the same except for not having the physical book.
  3. Following Handmaiden's instructions you so kindly referenced in one of the other threads :001_smile: , I was able to use the same process to get the digital courseware teacher w/virtual lab access free. Before I completed the order, I just wanted to see if anybody else had tried it. Hopefully that is the only difference, whether you want the physical book or digital book. I probably won't use the virtual labs for everything, but I figured it might be nice to have for those times when I don't have all the supplies required, or we get behind. It's also cheaper to get it as a package deal instead of separately. Thanks for your reply.
  4. Has anyone who has chosen to use or even just researched the digital courseware at the Pearson site tell me a little more about it? Am I right in assuming that this would take the place of the hardbound textbook? I have searched previous threads, but I could not find any addressing this. I am interested in this because there is an option that includes a virtual lab that is cheaper than buying it separately. Also, anyone who has chosen to go this route, which teacher's access option(with virtual lab) did you choose? (I have no idea why they have one option, then offer an upgrade one. I'm assuming I would just need the regular one) Thanks!
  5. The Kindle 8.9 is the Gold Box deal of the day at Amazon for $249. Of course I bought mine last week and missed this deal.
  6. Do you know of a good protein powder that is not made from soy?
  7. If you don't want or have the money to spend on an actual graphing calculator at this time, there is a virtual option available that you can download to your computer. I found this local teacher's site with the instructions for downloading the virtual calculator. http://www.waynecountyschools.org/Page/13297 Below is the pdf she is referencing. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=9&ved=0CFsQFjAI&url=http%3A%2F%2Fclassroom.ldisd.net%2Fwebs%2FKHARGIS%2Fupload%2Fonline_calculator.pdf&ei=FMYnUL3eDoOo8gTBqoHQCg&usg=AFQjCNGjHIwpHd83VOU7kniMqfzLMC3TTw
  8. :iagree:If the boiled peanuts from a stand is all a person has tried, well, no wonder they don't like them. Peanuts that come straight from the garden, washed, and then immediately boiled in salted water are delicious. They are seriously addicting. :001_smile:
  9. By Vick's salve, do you mean the Vick's Vapor Rub?
  10. My dd's dandruff disappeared after switching to sulfate-free shampoos. She now uses Giovanni's Smooth as Silk shampoo. This was after trying the H&S, Denorex, T-Gel, etc. ETA: The dandruff didn't disappear with the first use, but with each use it lessened until it was gone. The Giovanni's is the only shampoo I buy now.
  11. :iagree: I also offer to send pictures of the items for sale.
  12. Yes, screen time before bed gets my brain racing. That's a big no-no for me, as is any alcohol in the evening or near bedtime. I experienced a terrible bout of insomnia recently. I tried everything except prescription sleep aids (well, did try Xanax; didn't like the way I felt the next morning). Out of desperation I finally tried the Calms Forte that someone had mentioned on this board before. It helped me to finally get a decent night's sleep. In about two weeks of taking it, I was able to stop the nightly dose because I didn't need it anymore. Now, I just take it when I feel like I may be too wound up to fall asleep and stay asleep. I like it better than taking melatonin. It leaves me with no after-affects. I hope you find something that works for you. (I was able to find the Calms Forte at Target.)
  13. :grouphug::grouphug: My heart goes out to everyone involved. Yes, diving can be dangerous. I knew a boy back in school (way back) who was paralyzed from the neck down after diving into a pool. My kids have heard that story more than once. I'll be sure to tell them of this family's tragedy.
  14. :iagree: This is a problem with paying for insurance when you are buying from someone online. Even if you pay extra for the insurance, if the seller does not package the item adequately, USPS can deny the claim. So, you have to rely on the seller to do a decent job in packaging and some.just.don't.
  15. This is what I did after struggling to get a package out of my mailbox that a substitute mailperson crammed into it. I could not hardly get the thing out, and by the time I was able to the book inside was damaged. This is the mailbox I have now and I love it. It sounds like the one quoted above. It is wider than the standard box. I realize this doesn't help you with your ruined package, but it may be something to consider for the future. Check out the reviews on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Solar-Group-MB515B-Rubbermaid-Rougneck/dp/B000LNIB4I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342468982&sr=8-1&keywords=rubbermaid+mailbox I purchased mine at Walmart.
  16. If you were part of the HBC group buy for the Bolchazy-Carducci products, have you received your order or any notification of shipment? I haven't heard anything since I placed my order, and the "fine-print" stated the order would be shipped within 7 business days of the group buy ending. Am I being too impatient? (The group buy ended June 18)
  17. I understand how frustrating this must be for you. We had black ants in the house and a yard that was slowly being overrun by fire ants. The fire ants were a major problem for my son, who is allergic to the little red monsters. They started getting in the house, too, and when one actually bit my son while he was sleeping, well, that was the last straw for us. We hired the guy who sprays the local golf courses for fire ants to come out and spray our yard. (Sometimes the guys who do the golf courses do private residences for a side business.) As a result, the fire ants are gone from our yard with the added benefit of the black ants also disappearing from the inside of our house. I know some people are against the chemical methods, but in our case, desperate times called for desperate measures. Now, we are so happy with the results that we have our yard sprayed every year. This is just another option for you to consider.
  18. Apparently, there were rumors. I remember rumors being mentioned in some of the news stories after the scandal broke. I did find this article. http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/sports/psu/penn-state-campus-subdued-as-scandal-details-air-322756/ In the past couple years, though, rumors started to circulate throughout State College and the Penn State campus about Mr. Sandusky's conduct. "There were always rumors and stuff," Mr. Onusic said. "You know how people talk. That's State College, though. We've got a lot of politics." "There were rumors for a couple years," said State College resident Neil Christy, 68, "but nobody wanted to believe. Sandusky has done so much good." 19. I didn't pay for insurance. He didn't offer insurance. The shipping wasn't cheap to begin with. I don't agree that it is my fault. I believe it is his responsibility to get the item to me as ordered. I also didn't ask him for a total refund, but I believe a partial refund would be fair. No, I don't consider the game packaged properly. It was not the usual one- disc game in a thin jewel case. It was a 3-disc game, so the jewel case was much thicker. I don't feel the bubble envelope was adequate protection in this case. The least he could have done is wrote "fragile" or "handle with care" on the package. As far as the first seller, thank you, I will email and ask him if he will refund shipping both ways. ETA The seller could have used the USPS small flat rate box. It would have been cheaper on the shipping and would have offered more protection for the item. Also, it probably would have been handled with more care.
  20. Thank you all for your help. I do use Paypal for any ebay purchases I make. This is the first time I've had problems on ebay, which is why I didn't really know what to do when this guy refused to work with me. It's nice to know I have some recourse.
  21. Thanks, I'm going to have to do that with the second seller for sure. I just received an answer back from him. He again said it wasn't his fault, and he considered the matter closed. He just doesn't do refunds. :glare: I've never had to open a case before, but he's leaving me no choice.
  22. Update on the second game purchase. I emailed the seller asking for a partial refund, offering to send pictures of the item to show the damage. His answer was that he does not do refunds, that it is not his fault that the item was damaged. I made sure to mention in my reply that it was definitely not my fault, and couldn't we come to some resolution that would be fair to both of us. I don't believe I'm being unreasonable. The damage to the case reduces the collectible value. The price paid was for an item in very good condition with no damage to the case.
  23. I need some advice from anybody who sells or buys frequently from EBAY. My daughter recently purchased two video games in the jewel cases from separate sellers. The first game turned out to be a different release than the one that the seller pictured or described. He is willing to refund but makes no mention of postage fees. Is my daughter expected to forfeit the postage cost both ways? The second game was delivered with a large "V" shaped crack in the case. The seller responded that it did not have a crack in the case when he shipped the item and all his sales are final. Sorry.:glare: The game was shipped in a bubble envelope, like that is going to protect the case. Any item I sell that contains a breakable case such as that, I bubble wrap and use a small box to avoid damage. Do I have any recourse in either of these cases? Will I be out of ~$10 shipping fees in the first instance and quite a large amount for a collectible game in the second? Thanks for any help.
  24. Thank you! One less book to buy. :001_smile:
