  1. I will just laugh my head off like this is the most ridiculous things that the person has ever said. :glare: I did it once with my mom, and that works. she just dropped the topics. ;)
  2. I am very interested in this curriculum and I have the 1st edition text book. I am looking for the solutions to the questions in the book. Does anyone has any idea where I can buy it? I have tried Amazon, ebay, search the internet... All that is available in the market is the 3rd editions. Can someone tell me if there is a teacher guide/ solutions for the 1st edition of Harold Jacobs Geometry ? Thanks. Sauj
  3. She put all her effort in the outside classes. It is just the classes at home that she is not motivated. Yes, I am looking into the local college classes for her next year.
  4. Thanks everybody. :iagree: That's right. It might have to do with the hormones and puberty. Yes, she aims for the moon, but settles with a balloon. Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one battling this.
  5. I do not want to stick my nose in here... Just hope that you get the help that is needed. Best Wishes!:grouphug:
  6. Dd has completed her 9th grade. It was such a pain to get her to finish her school work. She claimed that she has no motivation to do her work for the homeschool classes. On the contrary, she was very motivation to keep up her grade for the classes she took outside of home :glare: So, what are the motivations of your highschoolers to complete their school work each day? How independent are your highschoolers in completing their daily assignments? How involved are you in their highschoolers education?
  7. You need a break to refresh and recharge yourself well. Don't feel guilty. You will be able to do a better job when you get back on. Have a fun summer at the beach!
  8. :) Super like it. Oop, this is not FB. Oh well....
  9. Unfortunately, I am just like you... I am not good in handling rude situations and felt angry for days after that. Does the 9 years old do all these out of bad intentions? Or just oblivious? We do have many acquaintances but no close friends. Then someone told me that my kids are blessed to have each other, friends come and go, but families are forever. Don't give up in searching for new friendships. But on the other hand, don't forget to enjoy whatever you are blessed with. :grouphug:
  10. Probably his wife is going to thank you for that someday? ;)
  11. Whatever the parents do, there will be some experts coming along to criticize it. And whatever the issue the kids face, it has to be something the parents did not do right.:glare: Homeschooling or not, make no difference. And for those who claim the homeschoolers are too sheltered, I don't see them leaving their kids to live on the street to learn about the hard "reality" of life either. Probably my kids are too sheltered ( from the junk of the school). But by the fact that we live here in the N America, we are already living a very sheltered life compare to the rest of the world.

  13. Interesting. What do you think of this? http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2011/07/how-to-land-your-kid-in-therapy/8555/1/ Warning, foul language in the first paragraph.
  14. I agree with everyone else that I would WANT to know. On the other hand, do you know if the parents already knew about that? Or the hosting parents had already handled that?
  15. Pets, pets, pets... Life will be so boring without the surprises they bring. This is a great thread!
