  1. Good luck to all! Have a wonderful first day!:001_smile:
  2. One time i had an abnormal result b/c of being intimate the night before...who knew? She did a repeat which came back normal. You may want to ask for a repeat test before undergoing a biopsy.
  3. We are! I'm so excited to get going on all our great plans. As a bonus, it will be raining for the next two days, so we won't feel like we're missing out on swimming and bike riding.:D Anyone else starting back tomorrow?:bigear:
  4. This is what I'm hoping to do, but here we can start at 14. I'd like to start in grade 10 with one course to see how it goes. Then hopefully 2 classes each semester in grade 11 and 3 in senior year. That's the direction we're headed but it's a long way off. And if one if my kids wants to try high school, it will be at the private one my DH went to (which he still feels the need to contribute to the alumni fund...:glare:)
  5. I FROZE at Mass this morning! I voted 73 because that's what I like in my home during the summer. Church felt below 70, but I think there was a vent blowing near me. And it could have been the light top I was wearing...

  7. I'm close to 40 and flat iron my crurly, frizzy hair every couple of days. I feel so much better with it straight. As much as I love curly hair on some women, my hair is just too BIG when I don't staighten it. My other hair MUST is a ponytail in my pocket...you never know when it might start to rain or when a long summer day turns a bit too humid:D
  8. Yes, I am planning to attend. My cousin is an English teacher and her mother (my aunt) is a librarian, so this is something that didn't surprise me at all and I'm sure they are looking forward to reading the responses. I don't want to disappoint by writing something lame or predictable. I do like the idea of having my kids give me random words, so if all else fails, I may go that route. Thanks for the help so far...:bigear:
  9. I know this is probably cheating, but I've already spent 30 mins on this and really have too much planning waiting for me, so I'm looking for help. My cousin's wedding invitation RSVP card has a mad-lib to fill out. It looks like this: -----------------------! (exclamation) -------------------- will/will not attend the wedding and will most likely --------(verb)-------------(adverb) on October 8 Don't forget to ------------------(advice) before you ---------------(verb) and -------------(advice) before you -------------(noun). We'd be ------------------(adjective) to eat: <dinner choice> I hope one of the many WTM can help me write a great response.:bigear: Please....:001_smile:
  10. :iagree: Writing on different non-paper mediums is a great way to start. Sometimes being able to easily wipe away mistakes or letters that don't look right makes it more comfortable for the child and more fun/interesting. Also having a "real" reason for writing can be motivating. Such as making a get well card or thankyou note or Christmas wish list or grocery list for items he chooses.
  11. Growing up, I always had a library close by and visited regularly. As a young child my mother would bring us every week or so, more in the nicer weather since we walked. From 4th grade on, I walked myself or with friends. We lived two streets out from the center of town and things seemed safer then. If I lived on that same street now (in what has since become a city) my very responsible DD would be waiting until 6th grade to walk there alone.
  12. I have the game Logic Links. It comes with a large deck of cards that have two puzzles each, so it works well for a group to share and work on different puzzles at the same time. My kids all love them.
  13. Have you tried going to the publisher's website? The publisher of the middle school science text I'm using (CPO) has a fabulous site with lots of supplements for teachers including all the labs.
  14. I used a few Ken-Ken puzzles in a math games class at co-op. You find them free online at various sites and they are available in many levels. ETA, I also bought the game Logic Links ( on Amazon). It was a big hit. I just brought extra colored discs so there would be enough for my small group.
  15. Coffee...of course!:D To be precise, Gloria Jean's French Vanilla Supreme...
  16. I love my Mac too! We bought it at Best Buy b/c we were able to use a bunch of our reward points to get Best Buy gift cards so there was little out of pocket cost. Something to think about if you have any credit/debit reward points floating around out there.:D
  17. Home Science Tools carries all of the materials for the labs. They have them in a bundle for $74.95 (I tried to link the site, but my ipad is giving me problems). I didn't buy any of the supplemental books. I just plan to use the library.
  18. :iagree: you really need the large size to fit all the tiles. Please don't let the whiteboard size keep you from using the program. AAS is worth it!:001_smile:
  19. My kids DD10 and DS8 did a tri last year. The number one thing that slowed my son down was strapping on his bike helmet before putting his shirt on! So yes, practice transitions. Also my kids were not used to swimming in a lake, so the ick factor slowed them down a bit. Another thing to consider is the terrain of the bike trail. Both of my dc made up time on their competitors while biking up hill on the rocky, rooty, dirt trail. They were very comfortable with that type of terrain, but you could tell that others were not. The only thing we told our kids on the day of the race was have fun and keep going to the finish. It was a wonderful accomplishment for both of them. My youngest will join them this year.:001_smile:
  20. Our co-op classes that are taught by moms are either free or $2-5 for supplies. We have an outside art teacher who charges $10 per class and sometimes when a kit is needed for a class it might be $15 or $20. The moms do not teach to earn money and those who do not teach contribute in another way such as cleaning. Everyone contributes $20 per session/$60 per year for a donation to our location.
  21. I am a lot less stressed with my DC out of school...that morning rush and afternoon crankiness was awful! That being said, be careful about signing up for too many activities...Last fall the stress level crept back up b/c of overscheduling...This fall I am being much more conservative in what outside commitments we make.
  22. :iagree: when asked by an EMT recently "How old are you?" I answered...but then later when I gave my date of birth...he said "So, that would make you 39?" I just replied," if that's what the math says"...not sure if it's a memory issue, denial, or both...
  23. Thanks for the Salsa link. That looks great!:001_smile:
