  1. Wheat Montana Prairie Gold for bread, pizza crust, etc. & Wheat Montana Soft White for everything else.
  2. Oven Roasted Tomato Sauce 2-1/2 lbs Romas, halved, lengthwise (I used 3 # regular tomatoes) 1 onion, thinly sliced 4 thyme or marjoram springs 2 to 3 TBS olive oil salt and freshly milled pepper Preheat the oven to 375°F. Put the tomatoes in a single layer in a baking pan with the onion and thyme, dirzzle the oil over all and season with salt and peppr. Bake until they're soft, shriveled, and falling apart, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove the thyme branches and puree or pass through a food mill. Taste for salt and season with pepper. NOTE: We didn't have fresh thyme or marjoram, so I just used dried. It still really good, but would have been better with the fresh herbs. You can use it by itself or use it in the recipe below: Linguine w/ Tomato Sauce 2 garlic cloves 1/3 cup olive oil 2 cups tomato sauce 2 TBS chopped basil 2 TBS chopped parsley salt and freshly milled pepper 12 oz linguini or spaghetti Red pepper flakes Start heating a large pot of water for the pasta. Meanwhile, whack the garlic with the flat side of a knife and remove the skins. Warm the oil in a large skillet over medium heat, add the garlic, and cook gently until the cloves are golden. Remove them and discard. Add the tomato sauce and herbs and simmer gently over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Season with a few pinches salt. If the sauce loks a little dry, add a ladle of the pasta water. Cook the pasta in the boiling water until al dente, drain, and put it in a serving bowl. Add the sauce and toss well. Season with pepper to taste and pass the red pepper flakes at the table. ------------------------------------------------------------ I also will put some olive oil, freshly pressed garlic, & chopped fresh basil in a bowl. I let that marinate for awhile & then add some torn up mozzarella & chopped tomatoes. Then I put the "sauce" over hot cooked pasta & sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Mmmmmmm.
  3. Just tried it this morning after reading a news story about it. I like it so far & have put it as my default search engine in my Firefox toolbar so that I remember to keep on using. I really like the amount of info that comes up with each hit.
  4. Is there any way to subscribe to a particular person's posts? I do that on the TOG forum. For instance, I want to know when Janice in NJ posts so I subscribed to her posts & now whenever she posts I get an e-mail saying so. There are certain people whose wisdom I greatly appreciate & I don't want to miss it when they "talk"! Thanks,
  5. Unfortunately we keep ours in cases. They lean up against one of the walls of the room we school in. Dh keeps meaning to buy the hooks to hang them on the wall for easy accessibility but hasn't happened yet.
  6. Does anyone know if PHP is going to do downloadable mp3s in the future? I'd love to have the above cd, but I'm not willing to pay $7 shipping to get it.
  7. Love Trader Joe's, but the majority of my shopping time is spent at Target. (hate their clothes though)
  8. There was a waxing one on the old boards that had me laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my face.
  9. I just switched to Buff'd Cosmeticsfor my foundation & I love it. I have giant pores & it hides them pretty well. They do offer samples for $1.50 with free shipping (and they sent a couple of extra samples for free with my all sample order!) I've also read rave reviews regarding using Pure Luxe's Eraser to hide pores. It didn't work for me, but apparently it does for lots of others.
  10. Kahlua Chocolate Chip Cheesecake from a restaurant that no longer exists :crying:
  11. Ugh. That happens to me too. You'd think the glazed eyes & total lack of interest would be a clue, but no...............
  12. I just ordered my first pair from Zenni yesterday. Total came to $20 with shipping & anti-reflection coating. I had my prescription, but not the pupillary distance # so I called the optometrist & they let me come in & get it. :) If I like these I'm going to order a backup pair & some sunglasses as well.
  13. It's Task-Oriented Physical Science. Here's a link to Rainbow: TOPS
  14. I picked other since I'd get whatever is cheapest. Blue or Red would be fun, but white would probably be less likely to show smudges, etc.
  15. *RightStart card games kit--My kids LOVE these. *Math Shark for drill *We've had good luck with the books from the living math site listed above. *Weirdly, dd has retained lots of math info from the PBS show Cyberchase. We'll be working on a new concept & she'll say, "Oh yeah! I remember that from Cyberchase..." & launch into long explanation.
  16. You might want to see if there are any folk schools in your area. My dad loves woodcarving & takes classes at Silver Dollar City every spring but that would be a bit of a commute for you guys! :)
  17. I supplement with Singapore CWP & Primary Challenge Math. We also do a little bit of extra drill with either flashcards or Math Shark b/c I don't take the time to do the games often enough. Last year I tried supplementing with CLE & it was just too much. It would have worked well if dd worked faster though.
  18. The thought of doing lapbooks makes me twitch, BUT I'm pretty sure dd would love them so I have a collection of free ones on my computer. I haven't been able to force myself to actually do them though. I'm just not convinced that they're terribly useful as learning tools.
