Hi! I'm Brenda. I live in West TN. I have a daughter that will be in 9th grade this fall. She is very excited. It is a bittersweet time for me. I can't believe that she is old enough for high school yet, I am very happy to see the Christian young lady that she has become. I look forward to what these next few years bring :-)

Recommended curricula for a co-op speech class?
BrendaC replied to Dawn in MI's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Secrets of Great Comunicators is a wonderful program. We used it in our homeschol group's speech class. The children seemed to enjoy it and retained much of the information. -
Hey! I have been reminded many times this year as I prepare for DD to begin high school next year that the best curriculum is the curriculum that you use. There is not a "magic formula". I am trying to remember this as curriculum fairs, used book sales, etc... are about to begin. Brenda

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...
BrendaC replied to mama2cntrykids's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
That is my favorite quote in homeschooling. I have changed curriculum many times in homeschool because something looked so much better only to be disappointed. I have learned to live by that motto. Also, another friend gave me some real good advice. The curriculum that is best is what you and your student will use. The best advise that she could give is stay home, and use the curriculum. Thanks for Sharing! BrendaC -
Hi! DS will be in 5th grade next year. I am wanting to purchase Rod and Staff for him. Would I purchase the 5th grade book? He has done language arts in the past. From what I have read, the 5th grade book is a good place to jump in. Others feel that it is very advanced and you might need to back up a grade. Your thoughts? Thanks in Advance! BrendaC

Hi! I am looking at Science for a 9th grade daughter. I wanted your opinions on Dive and Red Wagon DVDs for Biology. I had thought about using BJU with Dive. Someone suggested that I look at Apologia red wagons. Do any of you have any experience with these? If not, do you have another suggestion for a good Biology program for a 9th grader. Thanks BrendaC
