I'm cleaning out my mother's craft stash (long story including hoarding and dementia) with Dad's permission. She has several cricut cartridges I'd like to sell for them, but I understand I need to know if they are 'linked' or not. I have her cricut machine, but how do I go about deciding if they are linked or not? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. They really, really need the money from anything I can sell for them.

Our water tests safe(well water), but there's been a lot of cancer in our neighborhood over the years, so we've been buying reverse osmosis water at the store (from the machine -- fill your 5 gallon jug for .39 per gallon) for several years as a 'safety'. We aren't getting any younger, and we're getting tired of hauling 5 gallon jugs to and from the store. We've been thinking of getting a reverse osmosis system for under the kitchen sink, but since we aren't getting any younger, I wonder how long we're going to like diving under the sink to change the filters. Then I started thinking about the countertop models and/or the pitchers that just do a gallon or so at a time. Can anyone give me any advice on all of this? I've tried looking at Consumer Reports and Amazon for reviews, but it starts all mush together, and I'm not even sure which KIND I want, so how do I research it? Sigh. Can anyone help me?

I agree with the pp. Doing a class in one semester will already be a big adjustment if the student is used to having a whole year for a class. It's already putting the full amount of material in 1/2 the time. I can't imagine doing the full load in 1/4 the time.

DD took it yesterday, but this was her first shot at an actual ACT test. She has done some practice testing at home with an older McGraw Hill prep book, but felt it prepared her as well as she needed it to. She did not have any experimental sections, and found the whole thing relatively easy overall (except the math which we knew would be her weak area). Of course, maybe we'll find differently when we get the scores back. She did do the writing section, so maybe that eliminated the experimental section?

LOL, sounds like dd. She wants to be a vet tech. Algebra 2 is plenty, she just wants her math ACT score up closer to the other scores. It didn't take us long into TT Geometry to see that wasn't going to be a good fit. MUS was such a breath of fresh air that we stuck with it for Algebra 2. She did learn a few new things in it, but not much in it either. I've heard better things about TT's new edition for Algebra, but I haven't used it, so I really can't comment on it.

I'm not sure what your math-phobic child's future plans are, but my dd (that did the CLE Algebra 1) has done CLE Algebra 1, TT Algebra 2, MUS Geometry after a brief venture into TT Geomtry, and MUS Algebra 2. She definitely likes MUS the best, but doesn't plan to go any further. She did take her first shot at the ACT test this morning, and feels like math was definitely her weak spot (no surprise to me). We shall see...... I'm really thinking if she wants to take another stab at it next year that we will try Chalkdust's review program for the ACT.

We helped test it during the first year they were doing the testing. It definitely loses the gentle feel. It felt very rigorous to us. The only thing I wasn't as happy about was that they no longer incorporate the geometry as they had done in the past (and as classic Saxon Algebra did). It will eventually come out in textbook form, so yes, the booklets are just chapters at this point and meant to be done 'textbook style'. I don't know what you've been using in the past, but after CLE Algebra 1, dd went to TT Algebra 2 (1st edition) and it was ENTIRELY review for her.

Thanks, ladies. I appreciate your opinions. I keep hearing that Rosetta Stone is weak in grammar, but I sat down with the MFW lesson plans and I see that there are grammar lessons scheduled in through Rosetta Stone, not through another resource. I'm confused. Is the grammar on the CD's weak, or are people referring to a previous version? And if it is weak, can either of you recommend a grammar book to go with it? Maybe I should start that as a separate thread.

I don't see it as any different that using usernames here. Most of us don't use our real name, especially no the whole name. My dd enjoys writing and hopes to be published someday. She uses a pen name for safety/privacy reasons. Would I want her to be posting on writing forums under her real name? Absolutely not! I want her to have privacy in 'real life' too.

I'd be interested in hearing why also.

DD will be using MFW AHL next year and has decided she'd like to learn Greek with it. I have no idea which program to use. I'd like something relatively inexpensive (less than $100 maybe?) and open and go. She enjoys dvd's if the teacher is good. Suggestions? (Her goal is to be able to read the New Testament in Greek.)
