  1. My children all had a lot of hair at birth, so I couldn't see the contours of their scalps. However, one child's head felt so bumpy through his hair that I referred to him as "the Klingon." He is currently in high school and doesn't seem to be remarkable neurologically or cognitively.
  2. I know that people of this age can be insensitive, but this child seems remarkably unmoved by any suffering, whether she is on the scene or just reading about a situation. I have been through this age with several of her older siblings, and this seems really different. Does anyone have any experience/advice? Does it make sense to start therapy for this?
  3. I also have two codes for a free box--two meals--for new Hello Fresh customers. Pm me if you want to try it.
  4. After reading the posts about so many factors that work against walking, I realize how conducive the geographical setup here is to walking. Most of the other social/lifestyle factors aren't applicable to this population. I have seen more students walking to/from the high school since my original post. We are having a lovely fall.
  5. 1 to 2 miles from home to the high school. Even though I lived in a flat city, so no uphill both ways, I did walk a similar distance to school in midwestern weather. Is this considered too taxing now?
  6. Two of my children took high school Korean through the Fairfax County (Virginia) Virtual Campus. It is expensive for out-of-staters. IIRC, the classes meet once per week and three years of Korean are offered. The lower level was packed with heritage speakers who already could speak Korean. We had to find a local proctor for written exams in December and June.
  7. I won't elaborate on our concerns about this young adult. The answers given here have been very helpful, and I followed up with the fin aid office. According to the office, the IRS retrieval tool is offline for this school year.
  8. Right, it doesn't work that way, but doesn't matter because child is of age. Anyway, child will not get any need-based aid.
  9. Our estranged young-adult child would like our information to file the FAFSA. We don't trust this child to have the information. If we file the document, will our child be able to view the document or learn what is on it through the college fin aid office?
  10. For a good math student who is not experienced with a graphing calculator. Thank you.
  11. These are not hard to find online, but I am wondering whether anyone has found one that matches the advertised fiber content, is not of gossamer thickness, and has a decal that didn't peel soon after the first laundering. Thank you for any leads.
  12. Is the blanket warm like poly fleece, a down comforter or ? Is it noisy/rustle-y when the sleeper moves? Thanks!
  13. I am a book seller wannabe and very surprised by your post. What are the questions? What are the favors? Do you mind sharing? Sorry, I see I just asked a bunch of questions.
  14. Oh, me. Same. My lament starts next week.
  15. Yes, I call them my driving glasses. I don't always drive with them, but at night or if there is any sort of precipitation they make a huge difference. I don't know whether I would need them for lecture.
  16. You can find out yourself with a simple experiment. Approach someone in your workplace and say, "My, what large breasts you have." Have a friend approach the same person and say, "Wow, you are really tall." See which of you and your friend gets a visit from HR.
  17. Thank you. I didn't know that deleted topics were called hidden, and I interpreted "you don't have permission to reply to hidden topics" to mean "*you* don't have permission. . . ," as if some special membership category allowed access to the double secret hidden topics.
  18. And who has permission to respond to such?
  19. Wow. I think that would be the straw that ended all homeschooling discussions for me.
  20. Don't know the answer, but I love the title of this thread.
