  1. :iagree: I could watch Little Bear all.day.long and not get tired of it. So pleasant, and the music is very soothing.
  2. $2000, custom made so that included alterations/changes to the pattern. My father picked it out (weird, I know....I ended up with this massive entourage while dress shopping....parents, grandparents, aunts....kind of embarrassing.) Parents paid for it and the rest of the wedding, and while we stuck to a budget, it was their budget and nothing I could have afforded on my own. It was a lovely wedding. This was in 2000.
  3. Not cross country, but we did do Amtrak from VA to FL (auto train) with 5 boys under the age of 6. Sitting in seats, no sleeper. I'm not sure I'd do it again unless my kids were older...I would opt to fly over taking the train if costs were the same. The seats aren't bad, but the kids had a hard time sleeping in them. While they do recline, they don't go horizontal. We brought pillows/blankets etc. We were on the lower level of the train and had a section to ourselves, thank goodness. (Lots of elderly passengers who would not have enjoyed our crew.) The food was pretty good and the kids LOVED eating on a train. They loved the bathrooms, go figure, and it was nice to be able to walk around and not have them strapped into a car seat/seat belt. That said, it was LONG, and ours was only overnight (4pm to 8am the next morning.) Sorry I can't be more helpful. If nothing else, it would be an adventure and your kids would probably talk about it for years.
  4. No idea, but I'll give you a bump because I'm :bigear:.....sounds fun, I'd love to do something like that for a co-op!
  5. Nope, we have one TV that we all share. They can have one when they are on their own, if they like.
  6. Looks fantastic - great job! We have the same chairs and the kids love them. Happy times for you and your cute kiddos!
  7. I've been thinking about this as well.....I'd like to do some light schooling over the summer and was not sure how to count it. Thanks for the insight, ladies.
  8. We write in them. I am not nearly organized enough to consider scanning/printing/copying/etc. I can't guarantee that I'll want to use the same resources for the next kid, either....there could be something better by then. :tongue_smilie:
  9. Thanks for posting a great review - I had never heard of these but we listened to the website and love them! I used to know a lot of goofy mnemonics for remembering composers and pieces they wrote....this is even better!
  10. We did this a lot growing up (and still do) and my mother called it a "snibble platter." My kids adore snibble platters for dinner.
  11. I'd say it would be fun....it depends on your kids. (I'm a huge fan of dissection, however, I know at least one of my kids would gag himself to death if we tried.) Have you thought about owl pellets? I played with those in the elementary grades and really enjoyed it....we had cards with animal skeletons and had to match what we found to the chart. Might be a nice way to start out...a little less intense? Otherwise I'd say go for it. You can always do it again, right? ;)
  12. Your pic was great. I love Christopher Guest...but I hate time change. Why "fall back"? Why not just stay "sprung ahead"?
  13. We took 2 days off last week for birthdays are the grandparents are visiting for part of next week.....we can't "afford" to take time off this week but yikes! it was hard to get out of bed this morning. Time change is always hard around here.
  14. What a beautiful story, thank you for sharing with us.
  15. Holy smokes, we love harmonicas! And slide whistles! And duck calls! (This from the mom who bought her son a drum set for his 2nd birthday...) Enjoy the noise. I figure my house will be quiet someday...and then I'll be bored. ;)
  16. I had a version at 37 weeks with #1. It worked, he stayed head down, and I had a completely normal delivery. It was uncomfortable but not terribly painful, definitely much, much easier than labor. I was given a shot of terbutaline first to relax my uterine muscles. No pain medication or epidural or anything. It took about half an hour with very frequent pauses to check baby with the ultrasound. FWIW, I had an older doctor who had done versions for years and years and had a pretty high success rate.
  17. That sounds awesome. Not sure where you live but we're still months away from strawberries and I.can't.wait. Enjoy!
  18. Thanks for the heads up, I'd like to see that. I read the book My Life as a Furry Red Monster, which talked about his life and how he became a puppeteer....I'd love to learn more!
  19. I hope it is, we just memorized our list a month or two ago. We sang them to the tune of Yankee Doodle and now EVERYONE in our house knows them....and the kids sing that song ad nauseum....it's really catchy. :tongue_smilie:
  20. The jury is still out at our house....We've been using WWE/FLL quite happily, but picked up WWW3 when DS asked for some workbooks he could do independently. He's been using it for a few weeks and does it without complaining....not sure how much it is impacting his writing as of yet. We'll see.
  21. We've had our Kia since 2008 and have had no problems with it. Oil changes, new tires, that's it. We've been very pleased.
  22. It's not you, I do think that book is confusing. I kept the book as a resource but moved on to something else.
  23. Ditto the Scotch laminator. For less than $20 I don't think you can go wrong. I found my pouches at Sam's club (not Scotch brand, but cheaper) and they work great.
