  1. Do you have the child trace over the selection or have them copy it in the space below? TIA Anne
  2. I didn't really put much thought into it at all except that I do love flowers. I thought about putting a pic of me up but I'm usually the one behind the camera so the pics of me are few and far between. So I just did an internet search and found the flowers one (there are certainly some raunchy avatars out there which I discovered when doing a search).
  3. This helps me save money and I like knowing what we'll be having instead of thinking of it that day or the day before. I only grocery shop once a month (except for milk and produce) which is wonderful since I am shopping with 4 kids. I just look at our schedule for the month and base what we will be having that night on what we have going on (i.e. if I've worked the night before, it is something from the freezer I have previously made).
  4. They have fresh flowers. You can get a medium-sized bunch for $2.99. I know that the flowers are delivered to our Aldi on Thursdays so I often will pick one up. It is especially nice in the winter to have fresh flowers in the house.
  5. My DH is an accountant and he never really liked math. Accounting doesn't have that much to do with math, more about keeping things in the right place, etc. There is a book out there somewhere that talks about what kind of animal your personality type is. There are four types--beaver, owl, dolphin and fox. Sounds like your ds would be the beaver type--organized, like lists (put things on the list just so they can cross them off), etc. I also have a friend who would qualify as a beaver and he has his own business doing household repairs/heating/air/etc. All this to say there are lots of options out there for him.
  6. Why not make a fake cake and still serve cheesecake? I had a fake cake for our wedding (my mom was a cake decorator) and we served cheesecake for the dessert. You could leave your house with them frozen and they would be fine when you got there.
  7. I pray. I figure it's a good use of my time and it is quiet. I don't usually want to get out of bed cuz it's cold in the house and DH is nice and warm (when he's home anyway. . .well he's probably warm when he's gone too but I don't benefit then).
  8. We read The Birds Christmas Carol. I could not get through the last chapter. It was such a good book and I was bawling like a baby.
  9. Your original post said that DH was uncomfortable with that plan (where you birth at home and then the MW comes). I assumed he was uncomfortable with the home birth. Sorry for the misunderstanding. With as short as your labors have been, you might end up with a home birth whether you plan for one or not. :)
  10. And you don't think he'll change his mind, then I would go with the midwives at the local hospital. You want this to be a good experience for both of you and if he has lots of anxieties about the home birth, then you'll sense that and it might cause anxiety for you. I know my DH would be passed out on the floor if I asked him to help with a birth. :D He absolutely refused to watch any of the kids come out and still almost passed out!
  11. You had mentioned you were thinking of moving out of the seminary due to financial constraints. Glad to see that you have been able to see God's hand at work in your life. Very exciting--although difficult when we like to know what the whole plan is. :) Keep trusting.
  12. Of course, the answers from the midwife group may differ but my experience is that you wouldn't have to have an IV (unless there were complications), you could eat/drink if you wanted, you can deliver wherever you want in whatever position you want provided it is in the birthing room (I think they'd rather avoid the hallway LOL!), you would be in the room with DH, the midwife and the nurse, you can still choose whatever tests you want run on your little one, you don't have to stay for 2 days if you don't want to--although if the hospital has all private rooms then it wouldn't be a bad idea. All your questions are good ones and I'd probably vote for using the midwives at the local hospital rather than using a birth center that is 1 1/2 hours away--especially since your labors have been so short.
  13. Did you have to move? Is your DH still in seminary? How is the pregnancy going? (If I've got my info wrong, I apologize). Congrats on being a larvae (I'm not sure I've ever said that before :D)
  14. We'd be in the ER with frostbite after 10 minutes!! Plus there is all the snow on the ground. I can't wait for spring!!!!!!!!!!
  15. It is so nice when people are genuinely nice and helpful. I hope if I ever have a flat someone will help me (I don't know how to change a flat either).
  16. You might try the Staybridge Suites (still part of the HI chain). The rooms are larger, they have a breakfast buffet, and they serve supper on Tues, Wed, and Thurs--all as part of the room rate. I've stayed at the one in Eagan and it was nice. Plus it has a full kitchen so that would help keep cost down (there is a Cub foods right across the street). St Paul is a straight shot up I-35E from there--about 15 minutes unless you try to drive during rush hour. My brother and his wife live in St Paul and we spent almost a week at the Staybridge while DH worked in Apple Valley a few weeks ago.
  17. Soph the vet--funny that we have so much in common. However, I don't play broomball and I'm not a vet. :-) That would be really weird. As for Instead, the verdict is out on that one yet. I'm having some problems with it leaking and it doesn't seem to stay in the right place. I might just buy a divacup instead--I can pick one up at the local health food store. This is all new territory for me. :)
  18. We were having the same problem with my dd and we reduced the number of problems she was doing. Things have been going better. The question I posed
