  1. Bump - has anyone used this for German? Any other feedback? @madteaparty Did you end up trying it?
  2. I have heard it said that it is letting go of your “right” to hurt them back. It’s not saying it’s ok, because usually it’s not ok. It’s also not necessarily trusting them again. But it is moving on.
  3. Why not Neosporin? I've always tried that first for me and the kids and it's worked great for a little infection.
  4. I’ve become pretty covid relaxed and I do think the risk is small but I still wouldn’t have her cook or eat her food.
  5. I just did a quick search on YouTube and there are a lot of videos explaining the McKenzie method. I highly recommend checking them out.
  6. The pillows and rolls are helpful but what really makes a difference is the stretching routine and press ups and knowing what to do, how to move etc during a painful flare up.
  7. I’m not sure what stretches you’ve tried, but the McKenzie Method worked wonders for me. You can also buy the book on Amazon. Maybe there are YouTube videos as well. I’m sorry, I understand. Back pain is horrible, really debilitating, and messes with you mentally as well.
  8. Can you explain how this works and the cost? The website is a little confusing.
  9. I know there was a popular one that is no longer offered. Any other options? DD took a live online German 1 class last year. She’s attending an in person hybrid school next year. They allow outsourcing if a student wants to take a class that the school doesn’t offer. I don’t want to enroll her in a live online class next year but she wants to continue German. It’s the only thing I’m outsourcing for her. I was thinking of just having her continue with something like Rosetta Stone and a conversation group on Outschool. Anything else out there that I should consider?
  10. I believe we subscribed to HBO Max in order to watch The Middle. Psych is on Prime.
  11. I’m sorry. I had one of those last summer.
  12. We enjoyed Psych and The Middle as a family.
  13. I'm so sorry about your son's accident and really glad that he is ok! We are approaching the teenage driving thing now as DD 16 will be getting her permit and likely making friends that drive. It's new territory for us. At this point, I would not let her drive with a brand-new licensed driver but I would definitely let her drive with twenty-something unless I had reason to believe the person was irresponsible. I think this is just one of those things that is scary and hard but necessary. In the situation you describe, a friend's nanny that regularly drives the kids around, yes of course I would allow that.
  14. Have you noticed any other symptoms? Hoarding candy wrappers and garbage was one of the my daughter's symptoms when she had PANS. Some of her other symptoms were extreme OCD, bizarre fears and obsessions, separation anxiety, food restriction, and tics. She had a sudden onset and very extreme case. Hoarding can also accompany OCD.
  15. Yes - NJ and PA Eta - our dog loves to hunt them but usually misses 😂
  16. I have the Ninja Foodi 6-in-1 grill/air fryer and I LOVE it. This one does not function as a toaster but you can use it to crisp up leftover fries, etc. I use it as a grill a few times a week and as an air fryer just as often.
  17. Same. Three nights of sitting with my traumatized hyperventilating dog. I have no problem with a town fireworks display by why do people have to set them off IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD right over our houses.
  18. This isn't the best way to handle OCD because it will continue to reinforce the fear behind the need to wash. Although harder initially, it is better in the long run to restrict access to soap and washing if possible.
  19. @Pawz4me Thank you for all of that advice. Her vet has given me the right benadryl dosage for her before for allergies but they never got bad enough to try it. Since I already have it, I'll try that tonight. I think we are going home and not here staying another night so hopefully it won't be as bad. But I think she is traumatized now from it being so loud here.
  20. My dog had what I think was a panic attack last night because of the fireworks. She was literally shaking and panting for almost two hours! I let her in the bed with me but it seemed like trying to soothe her might have made it worse. It's so frustrating because she never used to care about thunder or fireworks but it has gotten progressively worse since last summer. It is particularly bad in my parents' neighborhood where we stayed the night last night. We lived with them for a year and a half and there is a jerk somewhere that sets off fireworks that literally sound like a bomb in your yard. This started last year July 4th weekend and ever since then she gets nervous even during a thunderstorm. I'm not kidding that it never used to phase her before. Any advice on how to handle this?
  21. Seventh Generation fragrance free hand soap. It is all I keep in the house and it makes a difference. We have a kid with eczema and OCD, bad combination. ETA - some shampoos also destroy her hands like Herbal Essence. Dove shampoo has been fine and Dove sensitive skin bar soap in the shower.
  22. Oh wow! It was 2005 and it was a wallpaper border for DD’s nursery!
  23. I don’t know but I have a super fun story. One of my husband’s best friends was at a convention many years ago and there was a guy with a booth for his new startup company, an online book store. DH’s friend struck up a conversation with him and said yeah I’ll give it a try. The guy was Jeff Bezos and DH’s friend was one of his first customers. Every year at Christmas he receives and Amazon gift card for $100 for being a first customer.
