  1. One of my favorites https://littlespicejar.com/moroccan-sweet-potato-lentil-soup/
  2. 1800 contacts I used them for years before I got LASIK and now for DD. You just order from them exactly what you use, same brand and prescription. You will have to upload the prescription of your eye doctor can approve the order.
  3. Mattress shopping is THE.WORST.EVER. I don't think you can find the flippable mattresses anymore. Don't get one in a box. We just bought all new mattresses for our house and ended up going with a Sealy Posturpedic Firm for the master bedroom, and the next level down Sealy for the guest room and kids. Everyone loves their mattress. I hated mine at first because I really prefer soft and cushy, but I had to admit that I was waking up without back pain everyday. DH let me buy a memory foam topper just to appease me, and while I loved the feel of it, I started waking up with back pain. So we sent it back and I just accepted the firm mattress. Well, now I have gotten used to it. It's fine and I wake up feeling great. Theoretically, I would love to be sleeping on a cloud, but that is just not what is good for my back. So there's my mattress advice.
  4. THIS is rude. I didn't read all the replies, but I do not at all think it is rude to bring your own food and not bring food for her. Unless she is injured or ill and unable to prepare her own food for some reason - in that situation, I would definitely bring food for her. Under normal circumstances, no, not rude. I would do that with anyone in my family (parents, siblings) and it would not cause any sort of stir. FWIW, we have a very healthy dynamic in my family and great communication.
  5. Rinsing/gargling with peroxide might help. (NOT inhaling peroxide vapor!) This blog post cites some research. https://latitudes.org/hydrogen-peroxide-as-protection-against-covid-19/
  6. Absolutely stay. Location, location, location is SO important with kids! Maybe your ILs can buy the land and build a cottage and you can consider it in your next phase of life.
  7. I gave up my crockpot because I get way more use out of the IP. But for slow cooking all day when you can’t stir it, it’s not great. It only heats from the bottom, and even though the stainless steel inner gets hot all the way up, I find it doesn’t heat as evenly as a crockpot. But it’s fine if I’m around to stir it.
  8. I know, and it’s an older article. I can’t find anything recent specifically related to SSRI’s.
  9. Just bumping in case anyone else has experience to add.
  10. This is a good thing for you! TGTB is MUCH easier to implement than BF! I didn’t want to comment yesterday because I didn’t want to be discouraging 😅
  11. I understand. It's hard. One thing I evaluate with this kind of thing is, are there other people around? On the walk to CVS, is it pretty out in the open or is he secluded? I also feel more comfortable when my kids are together or in groups but generally I'm ok with it when they are in public. I definitely want them to have a phone, though.
  12. I’m researching this for one of my kids and came across this article. The advice to increase carbohydrates is something I had not heard before. Does anyone have experience reversing weight gain from meds by doing this? https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-antidepressant-diet/201008/ten-tips-prevent-weight-gain-antidepressants
  13. A therapist can be really helpful in these situations to help objectively sort things out.
  14. If you are planning to move, I would not get the sectional. If it is just the idea of "moving someday", I would not let that prevent me from getting a sectional if that is what I wanted. And I think green or blue is a lovely color for a couch. I wish mine was blue instead of gray.
  15. Oh! Oh! There is a book series called Applause! Impressive Piano Solos for the Budding Virtuoso. The second volume has one of my favorites, Wedding Day at Troldhaugen by Grieg. Lots of other short and flashy pieces to choose from. Amazon has them.
  16. I agree - I bet they could easily find other students who would switch in a heartbeat.
  17. I don't think *most* people actively dislike or have a fear of dogs. However, it would be unexpected for most people to end up living with a dog at college. I totally agree that this needs to be escalated pronto, however, I think it is more on the other girl to request to be moved. The dog needs freedom to be with your daughter at all times which means the common area, bathroom and kitchen as well as her room so restricting the dog to the bedroom is not a solution, not even a temporary one.
  18. Chopin is my absolute favorite composer. There are some shorter pieces that might work. A couple polonaises and waltzes...it's been a long time so off the top of my head I don't know, but you can probably get a nice list to choose from if you google "best Chopin to start with" or something. Joplin is always fun for a crowd pleaser.
  19. Not sure if you went but I would take her in. I don't tend to be alarmist and run to the ER but in this case I would. I hope things are continuing to improve.
  20. Yep, this is super crazy. I agree that it is hard to forbid a friendship at this age. But I would likely tell my kid that I don't want them going to the house and don't want the girl over our house because it is not worth the risk of being falsely accused of stealing or who knows what else. I know that once my kids start driving, I will lose a lot of control of where they are. But I still think that as a parent it is appropriate to say that I don't want them going to a certain place because it is not safe or wise.
  21. I just…no words. Just no words.
  22. Is it better to attach a resume if they have no experience yet? Like for a first job? DD wants to apply to B&N and they finally have an opening posted. There is an option to attach a resume and a cover letter. She will definitely write a cover letter but I'm not sure about a resume. She has never had a job before or done any official volunteer jobs.
  23. I forgot to mention that she’s 16 and outgrew CP long ago 😆 Thanks, I’ll check out some of these. We don’t need uniform attire, denim is fine. I’m not going to complain or debate the dress code. I’m thrilled with the school. There is a rule of no athletic pants or shorts too which affects DS. They are just trying to establish some boundaries IMO and I think it’s fine…although a tad annoying with the length because most stylish clothes are at least a little shorter than that. Even mid-thigh shorts are above 3 in. above the knee. Maybe in practice that would he find though.
  24. My kids are going to a school this year with a dress code. I just realized that they require shorts and skirts to be at least 3 inches above the knee. Of course, I just bought DD a bunch of shorts on sale that are shorter than this. She was so excited about all her new clothes 🤦‍♀️ and really there was not much out there with a longer length. So now, where can I get shorts and skirts that are this long? Basically bermuda shorts and knee length skirts, right?
