  1. I asked on their Facebook page and they said no sale, but the did give a 10% off code - WS10
  2. I found Mr Q's sale!! I had to do some internet sleuthing, but found it!! www.eequalsmcq.com/HolidaySale2014.htm 50% off EVERTHYTHING!
  3. Hands of a Child also just sent out an e-mail that all ebook lapbooks will be $3 on Black Friday.
  4. Pandia Press is 40% off everything with the code "TURKEY" It's good now through December 1st.
  5. Here are my views of archway arête (not sure if they are all like this but they probably are). We were on the waiting list for chandler for 3 years. When arête opened this fall we were offered a spot. I went to all the presentations while they were building the campus and I was blown away and very excited. We homeschool with most of the same materials they were going to use and with all the specials and French and extras we thought it would be a perfect fit. I went at my scheduled time and did all the new student paper work. It's here when I was asked to pay the $150 refundable book deposit and to make my monthly pledge - which they suggest to be $100/month (and give them my bank info for direct withdraw) . All this for a free charter school. This is when I started to see red flags. I was excited to go to the first big campus/pto event where they were supposed to have info about the school and introductions by the admin. In reality it was a giant "spend more money here!!" event. You have to pay for the novels they were to read in class, pay for the Singapore math books, pay for uniform bottoms (so that they are all the same shade of blue), pay for uniform top (because they are "special" polos with the name embroidered, pay for the chess club, pay for the lego club, you get the idea.... Then the emails started, it was never any great info for the school, just more things we had to buy, the supply pack so every child had the exact same supplies (the school never even gave a list, just a link where to order a $100 pack from), a zipper pouch to bring books home in, a special first day of school gift everyone was supposed to chip in for for all the teachers. By then we had had enough. The charm of the school had worn off with all the demands of what we "had to " buy. We decided to just keep homeschooling because why fix what wasn't broken. So we called and asked when we had to do to withdraw my son (school was still 2 weeks from beginning) and get my $150 refundable book deposit back. They told us to go on line and it would take 2 weeks and we'd get a check in the mail. 2 weeks come and go, no check. 4 weeks come and go, no check so we call. "Oh oops, they should have told you 4-6 weeks to get a check" ok, we wait and wait, it's now 7 weeks and I start calling and emailing the school and the "district" I get several "oh wow, don't know what happened, we'll look into it and get back to you", no one ever did. But the school did continue to send us letters asking us to start payments on our pledge (2 months after we withdrew!!) Finally my husband got involved, I made a final email threatening legal action and a call to the charter board and we finally got a call from someone in the financial department that they were cutting us a check that Friday. 11 weeks after we withdrew we got out refundable deposit back. I wonder how many families just give up and the school gets to keep their money. All this to say, a free education became not free at all and out experience with them was very soured.
  6. This is what we do too. Jim Weiss had an amazing workshop at our homeschool convention this past summer where he spoke of the importance of fathers/men as story tellers to their children.
  7. I found a great edition of Beowulf at Goodwill. My 7 year son is loving it! Dad is reading a few chapters to him each night and they are both really getting into it.
  8. Nope. Not in at least a year now and probably longer then that.
  9. Without too much TMI, I woke up this morning with pain in my stomach and ended up with an extended stay in the bathroom. The continuous pain has stopped, but has been replaced with short but VERY severe stomach cramps coming every 5-10 min. (I am NOT pregnant. I already teased husband with we better not show up on "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant" on TLC.) I've been in and out of the bathroom a few times now, but the cramps are what is the worst. Does anyone have any BTDT experience for what I can take to help with the cramps while this works it way out? I really don't want to waste time and money by going to the doctor just to be told it's a stomach virus and it needs to run it's course. TIA!
  10. Well, if I don't hear from you, I will be returning these on Friday. Not sure what happened...
  11. Stacey are you interested in these? If not, no problem i can take them back to the store. Just let me now :)
  12. I found 2 small sky's ( just the PVC figure) and got them for you!! They were $4.99 each. Let me know if you want one or both and we can figure out me getting her to you.
  13. Tried Target tonight and no luck. EVERY other character though :(
  14. I checked our grocery store today that has a huge toy department. They had lots of Paw Patrol, but no Skye. :( I'll be near a Target tonight so I'll run in quick and look. And I'm at the grocery story every few days (boys who NEVER stop eating!) So I can keep checking for a new shipment.
  15. I can check at Target tomorrow. We got our Paw Patrol toys there last month. I don't remember if they had Sky or not. We got Rubble and Marshal one as a removable character and one as the smaller one that just is attached to his equipment.
  16. I have this and I love it. It's a sturdy case for my phone (has been dropped by the 3 year old many times and is fine), and has a compartment for credit cards, license, etc... there is also a small mirror on the inside of the flap that closes the pouch. www.pursecase.com
  17. How long did it take to gain access? I can get into my account, but it still says no subscription was purchased. :(
  18. Thank you for this link! I decided to sign up for this. I keep saying I need to get my kids for active before we sit down to school and I figured a $12 investment wasn't too bad to risk if it didn't work out.
  19. I have two boys also (almost 3 and 7) and I found a great book at the library. "Siblings without Rivalry" http://www.amazon.com/Siblings-Without-Rivalry-Adele-Faber-ebook/dp/B007HXL1V0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1402077302&sr=8-1&keywords=siblings+without+rivalry
  20. Here is the GIANT thread on this topic from a few years ago. I was a little late jumping on the bandwagon, but the year I did it really felt the most organized. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/189482-does-anyone-incorporate-a-filing-system-for-lesson-plans/
  21. Out of curiosity, is it Basis that you are enrolling her in? That's where I hope to send my son when he is older and we are ahead one grade at Eagleridge, so I might end up in the same boat (IF this is where you are talking about) :)
  22. We attend Eagleridge and love it! We drive about 30 min to get there, but feel it's totally worth it (and not so bad for one day a week). From 7th st and Bell, you'd just take the 101 around and down (get on at 7th st and off at Guadalupe). 20-30 min tops. Oh and Homeschool Hub on meetup.com She is actuall based out of the north valley, but plans field trips and activities all over.
  23. The first thing I did after getting mine last year was shred chicken. I use hot chicken breasts that I either had in the slow cooker all day or if I didn't have time, poached in a pan with stock and seasoning. I start out slow and increase the speed a few notches. Just be careful how long you leave it running. Once I let it go too long and have VERY finely shredded chicken.
