  1. Tell me about it.... no one on here seems to have a Galaxy... The reviews are good, but I want actual experience. I've looked at the I-pad but it seems kind of heavy for my purse. And I'd have to get a lot bigger of a purse.
  2. A programmable thermostat has helped us immensely. I have it set around 68-69 when we're usually home and awake. Down to 62 downstairs at night (no one sleeps downstairs), 64 upstairs. Note that it doesn't drop until after we're all normally in bed. Mine allows for 4 settings on weekdays, and 4 settings on weekends. One for upstairs and one for downstairs as we have separate units up and downstairs.
  3. If you own a Galaxy tablet, what do you love about it? What are the cons? I've been looking at it and an i-pad. I like that I could fit the Galaxy in my purse, something I couldn't do with an i-pad.
  4. I have found stations to be very helpful in keeping people from bottle-necking. It also helps new people get to meet people as people are more spread out.
  5. I've read the entire Protestant Bible, and parts of the Catholic Bible (all of what is shared with the Protestant Bible and some of the Apocrypha).
  6. My boys are 18 and 20, and still read for fun. They've always been avid readers.
  7. If the District Exec says she needs to go, she needs to go. The DE has the authority to take over the Committee, and run it until he/she feels it is doing right by BSA. Saw it happen to a pack (not ours) when we lived in Georgia. The Committee did not follow the DE's recs, and the DE took over. He had our pack help the other pack. It was in the best interest of the Pack, and the pack flourished. That said, do it with kindness. And you should not be anyone's assistant. Your job is big enough, and you need to support all of the positions.
  8. You can not take any tax deductions for homeschooling on your federal taxes. I don't know if any states allow it.
  9. On birthday gifts..... it depends on who it is for. If it is for a family member, or someone I am insisting they honor with a gift, I would pay for it. After about age 12, if it was for a friends/acquaintances, they bought it themselves. At least I did when they were younger. At 18 and 20, it doesn't come up so much. They do go in on gifts together for family members.
  10. Not safe, so no.... and you may find it cheaper to buy a new, cheap oven, than have the glass installed in a safe manner.
  11. :iagree: I have the same problem! It is awful, can's stand it. I feel like it looks like I don't clean my floors!
  12. I don't know why they wouldn't be since they have the privilege of voting, and are an adult.
  13. Try to get the employer to pay closing costs and part of the Realtor fees. Or a lump sum as part of the moving package, that you can use for movers or selling costs or whatever.
  14. WOW!!!! Words can not even describe my thoughts right now....
  15. If not showing up this week isn't enough, you need to say this if she sends them to you again. No beating around the bush will work.
  16. LOL.... that's pretty funny.... sounds like something my older ds would do, not my dh.
  17. This is what BSA recommends. Our camp outs, special activities and service days never counted as pack meetings except Blue and Gold did....
  18. :grouphug: Words can't even describe what I'm thinking, so sad for you, your dad, everyone.
  19. My son is in college. A lot of his professors do NOT allow laptops in the classroom. Essay exams are handwritten. I find cursive easier on the hand for lengthy writing, and would highly encourage everyone to be able to do it. I am STUNNED that some schools have stopped teaching it.
  20. I always order a filet mignon if eating at a steakhouse. I've always been asked how I want it cooked. My response is always "well done". I've never had a waiter or chef tell me that is unreasonable, or not the standard for filet. Common knowledge? Maybe in your world, but not mine, and we do eat out frequently at moderate to high end restaurants. Ranging from Longhorn on the moderate end to an occasional Ruth Chris type place (once or twice a year, perhaps).
