  1. Zaner-Bloser. I like how it teaches the student to evaluate their own writing.
  2. Is it me or do there seem to be more titles added since yesterday? Signed in last night, added 6 titles to my cart and only 1 was there today along with two I didn't add. :tongue_smilie:
  3. And like typical HSBC items, it's slowly climbing. I think we might give this a shot, but wouldn't mind if 15 more people would join in. :D
  4. Kit 1 arrived today. I do have pics, but it's a bit late so hopefully baby monkey will let me upload them in the morning. It arrived in a thick, plastic envelope and has a cute MSB label on the front. My first impression was that it seems thin for a "kit". There's a brochure for the 7 different experiments. The additional materials were in a separate plastic bag. On the one hand there isn't much for the water envelope. However, on the other I don't have a pipette, test tube, or short bit of plastic tubing lying around the house. The brochure has all of the MSB characters on the pages. The pages have space to write in observations, so for multiple children you could easiy photocopy these. With 7 experiments, we could do 2/ week or 2 in a day, once per week. We've already studied water ad nauseam by now, so this will just be fun review. I can see these being more of a supplemental item (which was my intention, especially since you have no choice on the order of the shipments.) The monkeys are excited, so we'll probably try an experiment or two later this week.
  5. I purchased a used worked book and it seems the first two lessons were completed. This isn't a real biggie, but I noticed that some of the activities included cutting out some word cards. Not having see the long and short vowel cards, are they as simple as the teacher's guide makes them sounds? I figure I can make my own, but wanted to be sure they were compatible to what would have been in the workbook.
  6. :iagree: My feelings exactly. That's why I decided to try asking. I did look at Angela's blog and it didn't help. :tongue_smilie:
  7. Mine is currently in transit. Maybe by Monday or Tuesday I can tell you. :001_smile:
  8. Actually, I believe the shipping is extra and about $16 to ship all the kits? But still, that's a nominal additional charge per kit. Thanks for the input so far... :001_smile:
  9. https://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/tsa-world-tour/?c=1 We're looking to focus on geography and the fact that you receive all 26 kits at once is very appealing. It would be a fun way to supplement the other materials I have for the monkeys. However it's still quite a bit of change! I know I've read some positive reviews in the past. For those who used it, do you feel this is a good deal?
  10. I would eliminate SSL by 3rd. Personally, I'm opting for LL, but a mix of GSWL and ISL almost seems good....
  11. Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc.? In that, I mean while Albus Dumbledore has sent this letter, it is actually sent from the parent? Because if that's the case, my dd will be trolling the LA station for a 9 3/4 platform with her brother. So I'm not sure if the correspondence school is a good idea.
  12. If visual is more required, Book of Virtues is currently available on Netflix streaming. Dd loves, ds -- not so much. However, of you choose Bennett's Book of Virtues for Children, you'd have another resource.
  13. As a SoCal (mostly) native, I remember the annual spring science camp there during 6th or 7th grade. The seas were choppy in April and flying fish were common. Wild boar and bison were common on inner parts of the island. In fact, it was Hollywood's fault for bringing bison to the island during the 1920's(I believe?) for western films and leaving them there. You gave me a great idea for a family trip. Dh and I haven't been in ages and the monkeys have never visited. :001_smile:
  14. Just tried the coupon and it didn't work with my visa.:tongue_smilie:
  15. We don't read this as the title suggests, but rather as needed or when I feel enough time has passed that "oh hey, it might be good if we do it today..." Character Building Day by Day. It's lead to many small and large discussions that I might not have thought to being up. I know there's also other curricula out there like We Choose Virtues. I also have Core Virtues which I like for a more lit based approach.
  16. I haven't found them on Netflix streaming. Are they on Netflix DVD?
  17. We're predominantly cloth users however when we were away for a week in the spring, 7th Generation and the store brand variations worked fine for us. The only difference I found were the 7th Gens were trimmer.
