  1. I'd write a letter to the office manager and "cc" your physician. ** They should know how patients are being treated by that employee. ** Congratulations on the pregnancy! Please let us know what happens.
  2. I bought Sonlight's schedule for Apologia Biology. However, here's another good (and free!) resource/schedule: http://donnayoung.org/apologia/index.htm
  3. :iagree: Well stated! Especially the part about sleeping. It's REALLY hard for teens to get un-used to an earlier-than-normal waking schedule. I let my dd and ds sleep until 9 or 9:30, and then start their school day. It's not important to me when high schoolers get their school work done, as long as it's all done before supper time. Including chores I expect them to do. I'm a "the earlier you start, the earlier you'll be finished" kind of person. My teens don't care all that much. They just crave sleep. And for their health's sake, I let them sleep!
  4. Yup!! It's Foodie Fest this week downtown! :D
  5. My DD's boyfriend left this weekend for college. The night before he left, he read Max Lucado's The Oak Inside the Acorn to his family, close friends and my daughter. I have precious pictures on Facebook that show him reading to his audience, and my DD staring at him adoringly. :001_smile: Just goes to show you're never too old to enjoy a good read-aloud! I thought that choice of book was very appropriate for a young man leaving home and starting a new phase in his life. DD's boyfriend realized God has a very special purpose for him now.
  6. We're here in Greenville! Very friendly, family-oriented activities in our city. :001_smile:
  7. :iagree: Good suggestion! Let them enjoy their first sleep-over with grandpa and grandma all to themselves!
  8. :hurray: Thanks for the update! I've been on pins and needles. Let us know more, as soon as you are able.
  9. Wow, now I've heard it all. I'm so sorry that happened to your lovely home. I wish you could give your feedback to the "realtors at large" who walked through the house..... it's disgusting.
  10. All the other posters have said it best. Wow, that's a lot of red flags flying. 1. Always, always, always have 2 adults present on church youth outings as well as in church classroom settings 2. Always get parental permission 3. Parents as well as kids should be emailed about the details of the outings I look forward to hearing what happens today at the OP's church meeting.
  11. 13 is when it starts ..... but 15 is dreadful. Now that my dd is 16 3/4, I can see light at the end of a very long tunnel. :D
  12. Oh yes, I did! I made these for a birthday party (but it's kind of what I get paid for!) :D
  13. Instead of going the AP route, to "validate" my son's high school transcript, he studied for, and passed 7 CLEP exams during the spring/summer of his senior year. He entered his freshman year of college with 21 college credits under his belt. It was awesome! His senior year, he used Sonlight's Brit Lit, and then he took the CLEP English Literature exam. He also passed the CLEP "Analyzing and Interpreting Literature" - the equivalent of a typical freshman "Comp and Rhetoric" class. We used Sonlight's General Psychology curriculum, and then he took the CLEP Intro to Psych CLEP exam. Sociology is an easy spin-off of Psych, so he also studied for, and passed that CLEP. Having studied Psych and Apologia Human Anatomy in 12th grade, and knowing that he was going to be a nursing major, he studied for, and passed the Human Growth & Development CLEP. He then studied and passed both History of Civ CLEP exams. This is an alternative route you can use to add college credit to your child's transcript, while studying at home. I spent about $20 per CLEP subject book buying them from Amazon or ebay, and then the actual CLEP test is done at a local testing center, costing $100. The students know immediately how they scored. The testing centers send a copy of the test results to the college of your choice, and the student brings home a print-out of his score. PM me if you have anymore questions!
  14. Great job! I love the white furniture contrasting with the blue walls.
  15. :grouphug: I'm so sorry. Hang in there. That totally stinks.
  16. I proudly live in the Southeast, but cringe whenever I see Southern families portrayed this way on TV. Makes me afraid the rest of the world perceives all of us "Southerners" as behaving and living this way. Bleah. I'm sure Honey Boo Boo's family is being paid a tidy sum to let their family be filmed for TLC. Hopefully this income will be used wisely! NO MORE PAGEANTS for Honey Boo Boo! :D
