  1. I have tried and tried. Uploaded to Flickr, got the code, clicked on the little picture icon, added the link, hit enter......keeps telling me I am not allowed to use that image extension. Does it really have to be this hard??
  2. I just froze a bunch today. I do them diced and in strips, flash freeze, and then put in a ziploc and freeze. I also freeze stuffed peppers. You make them just like you are going to cook them, with the cheese on top and all and then flash freeze, wrap in foil, and put in a ziploc. They are best when thawed completely in the frige and then baked or cooked in crockpot. If you google freeze stuffed peppers some people also blanch the peppers first, then fill and freeze.
  3. MyFitnesspal. You need to read the forums to set your calorie goal. Most people set theirs too low because they put themselves as sedentary and they want to lose 2 lbs a week which gives them a small amount. If you have 25 lbs or less to lose they recommend 1/2 lb/ week- 25-40 1 lb per week. Always remember that a calorie deficit is built in and the program is designed for you to eat some of your exercise calories back. So I set my profile on sedentary, lose 1 lb a week, and whenever I enter exercise I eat half those calories back and I lose weight. I have done WW and MFP and I like MFP better and it's free.
  4. I just look at the week and require dd to be writing everyday. So she will do the required lesson in WWS and then, depending on how deep that looks on each day and if there is any writing in R&S, I will then have her do a summary, written narration, outline, or note taking in History or Science. Those are all things she has learned to do previously and I try to rotate through those things to keep her up on her skills. Previously we used SOTW and History Odyssey and those things were already included in those curriculums so I didn't have to worry about it.
  5. We are also using Killgallon and are writing across the curriculum. We use R&S and will also do those writing assignments.
  6. -I run every night with friends -I get up an hour before my kids and take my coffee outside to breathe in fresh air and read my Bible -I go to an all women's bible study -I am setting aside an hour everyday to read
  7. That's so sick and so insane. What a freak. Of course since it was attempted murder he probably won't serve time his whole life even though he is obviously sick and disturbed. Its to the point that we need our kids by our sides every single moment because there are so many psychos out there.
  8. They are super popular for all ages. I love them. Just bought me a pair!!

My kids sit in the hallway and a nurse keeps am eye on them for me. I used to bring dd in with me when she was 4 and she ended up with vagina as her favorite word. She seriously wanted to name her cat vagina. Our family still cracks up about that to this day LOL
  10. Day 1 started well on Monday until about 11 am when my ds5 threw up all.over.the.place. Thankfully it was just the once and the rest of the week has been good. We are loving our curriculum and have good attitudes so far. But it's week 1 so we'll see. My dd10 left me a sticky on my computer today saying "I love you mom but I hate school" lol
  11. He just needs to find a hobby or something where he will be around other adults. My husband had the same issue. He joined our local sportsman's club. The only other thing you could do is ask around/google some things he might be interested in and also maybe invite some families over where you think he will get along with the husband and maybe some opportunities will pop up. The husbands I know that hang out with just male friends are: fishing, bow shoots, hunting, shooting, sportsman club meetings, playing pool, playing cards, working on cars, four wheeling, on a basketball team....things like that. Otherwise everyone is hanging out with their families and another family.

  13. Is everyone going to be using the same curriculum? Are you wanting to do all subjects together? Are all the same "grade" children on the actual same level? The high schoolers could be pretty independent and the sixth grader too, but that is a lot of 3rd and under that need attention.
  14. I also agree with using Easy Peasy. Its all there and its good and its free. Just need to print some pages and that's it. The facebook pages are excellent support. We are using some of it and my kids love it.
  15. Dogs- inside and out. They raise hell if anything is out of the ordinary outside. Usually its a wild deer or fox, but if there was a person they would go nuts. Our inside dog is a lab and the sweetest thing you'll ever meet, but she barks and growls like an attack dog if she hears someone outside and doesn't know who it is. Motion lights. Guns. Lots of guns.
  16. R&S is complete grammar and composition as long as you are writing across the curriculum (SWB says R&S is complete in WTM but is assuming that you are writing in other subjects and doing dictation and copywork) yes you need to add Spelling of your choice and you can add CLE Reading, you won't be overlapping as there is no reading covered in R&S :-)
  17. Yep! I am dead to the world zapped of all energy for at least 2 of the 7 days. I feel like I got hit by a train and I can barely move. Exhausted.
  18. had a friend bring her kid to VBS this summer, where we had 130 kids (after he had puked 15 times starting at 5 in the morning and VBS starts at 9) because she was teaching. She said that her son was kept separate from all this kids, so I am thinking OK he's in the bathroom or the hall, NO he's sitting in a chair in the room talking to all 3 of my kids. She said she thought he had a stomach issue (like obviously) and that it wasn't a bug (because you can tell this from the 15 times puking)   :willy_nilly: :willy_nilly: :willy_nilly: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Oh and I ask my other friend who is in charge of children's ministries about the 24 hour rule and she says "I think he was just dehydrated" There are no words.
  19. I personally wouldn't worry yet. Viruses are weird. Just try and make her comfortable and keep an eye on her
  20. Dear 35 year old body- I am counting calories, eating low carb, running (which I HATE) and weighlifting. Would it kill you to drop a few freakin pounds. This million month plateau is crap and we are getting older and I just want to hit my goal weight before I am 87. thanks so much. Dear "friends" who feel the need to talk behind my back. Man up and talk to my face. I know everything you say anyways. Dear stomach bug- LEAVE my house- we are sick of being stuck in it while the weather is amazing. well that felt a little better :-)
  21. I found that eating better and exercising has helped a lot. I now only require 7 hours of sleep so I can go to bed at 11 and still get up at 6. I run or lift weights every night at 9 and then come home and shower, watch a show and go to bed.
  22. I would stay away from both people and for sure never put a child around them.
  23. DECLUTTER Food only eaten at kitchen table. Period. Everyone has set chores and they get done first thing in the morning, right after school, and right before bed. No one wears shoes in the house. We love our dog- she is family. But I laid down rules for her :) If its nice out- she's in the backyard. When she comes in we keep her in the mudroom, wipe her paws, and make sure she is dry. She is not allowed in the bedrooms where there is carpet, the rest of the house is wood or tile. One of the kids chores is to brush her everyday.
