  7. MBM, just thought I'd update on what I found out. I called the pharmacist to ask if the prescription was for Vitamin D2 or D3 or if it even specified. He said that it was for Vitamin D, but there is no prescription available for Vitamin D3. D3 can only be bought over the counter. The problem is that D3 does not come in as high amounts as the D2 prescription. (My D2 prescription is for 50,000 IU's.) He said that D2 is harder to convert in the body, but that it would; it will just take longer than the D3. He encouraged me to stick with the D2, and call my dr before changing anything. My dr also wants me taking calcium (1200 mg daily), so I think I'm going to get some Os-Cal Ultra that has 500 IU of D3 in it, and take it along with the D2. I'll only do that a month or two in an effort to raise my D levels, then just take straight calcium. Thanks again for your help! :001_smile:
  8. Thank you so much, MBM! I have printed out things before to my doctor, and I will do so for this. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction of where to find the correct info on D2 vs D3. I really appreciate it!
  9. I have a question about your above post. I am Vit D deficient according to blood tests, and just finished three months of a Vit D prescription (50,000 IU's). Blood tests just showed that I am still low. So my dr gave me a prescription for another six months of Vit D. I noticed that the bottle says it is D2. Is that why I'm not getting better? Can you elaborate on the D2 vs D3? I googled, and saw that you should take the D3, but then why would my dr prescribe D2? Btw, my dh is also deficient, and he was given the same prescription by the same dr. Thanks for your help!
  10. I'm not sure how common this is, but it worked out for my sister-in-law. She told everyone that she wanted to adopt, and was going through the process of fostering classes/ approval. She hadn't even finished that process when she heard from someone at her church that this person knew of a young lady in her twenties that was pregnant and didn't want to keep the baby. (Apparently this young lady had already given up three babies.) That person (from the church) gave her phone number to my sister-in-law. Within a couple of months and with a lawyer drawing up papers for them, my sister-in-law and her dh took the baby home straight from the hospital the day after birth. After a certain period (I think it was six months), they had to go before a judge to make the adoption official. I think the whole process cost them $1200 (to the lawyer that drew up papers), and I believe they got it back as a tax deduction. So my advice is to tell everyone you know that you'd love to adopt. A young lady may be waiting for you. I'll keep you in my prayers, and good luck!
