  1. I know it must be bad when my filter at work won't let me see it.........LOL Now I'll have to wait until I get off work in 1/2 an hour to see :p
  2. I didn't go around telling people.......but I did put a link in my email signature line and figured whoever was interested would look. Funny thing, my pastor is a daily visitor to my site.......even with some of the negatives I write.......he has been supportive! So I wouldn't be scared......just be yourself.
  3. 1. I worked as Alice in Wonderland at Disneyland as a teen 2. I moved to Alaska for a year all alone when I was 19 3. My husband and I hated each other for the first year we knew each other 4. I sky-dive as a hobby 5. My kids all look like clones of my husband
  4. All I can say is YUM!!! I missed this the first time around, so thanks for bringing it up because I'm sorry I missed it...........I'll be making this soon!
  5. Jackie's way........through the Dashboard when I sign in........that way I can look at all my posts at once.
  6. I just finished taking Microbiology last semester and am taking a break this semester........that 5 unit class kicked my butt! I took Physiology over the summer, Chemistry last Spring..... I am now done with all my classes and am waiting to get into the nursing program (there is a waiting list)
  7. Wicked: The real story of the Wicked Witch of the West Israel, My Beloved by Kay Arthur Walden I've finished 11 books so far and I have my Daily Bible that I read every day as well....... I did take a break from my 888 list after reading Twilight (which was on my list) and read the other 2 books in the series........ So technically I've read 13 books since Jan 1st....
  8. and now its passed its way down "Its a good life if you don't weaken"
  9. I've been happy using Blogger.........as a beginner, I found it to be the easiest to jump in with. I'm sure at some piont I'll outgrow it, but for now....I'm really happy that I don't have to put in hours of studying to overcome the learning curve
  10. you did the right thing! You are showing here many good things here..... 1. That you value her and the trouble she went to 2. It isn't all about you 3. If she could see that you didn't enjoy it she saw love that covered that uncomfortableness.........a lesson she will hopefully pass on to your grandchildren 4. You are a good sport You blessed your DIL by being willing to go outside your comfort zone. Now if it had been something "seriously" against your beliefs/comfort like going to a strip show or something of that nature, then that is different.........but to me it isn't about "not being our true self" when we do something we really rather not.......its about sacrificial love. Same as when your husband says "sure I would love to see Sleepless in Seattle for the 40th time"
  11. I like the idea of maybe hiring some older teens to maybe do something with the kids........parents could chip in maybe?? If not, then parents rotating is what we've done in the past and its worked well. If you have several parents you only miss out on bible study once every couple of months. You could keep this as simple as structured play time with various games or as elaborate as AWANAS or Pioneers........it really depends on how much time and money you want to throw into a program. As for the heelies..........personally I only say something to the kids if someone is about to get hurt, otherwise I leave it alone.........and I wouldn't say anything to anyone in charge either. Frankly, the problem should be solved for some of this if you have a structured program.
  12. Each time you freeze something it degrades the quality of the product. So, technically you can refreeze just about anything........it just isn't going to taste as good as the original product, no way around that. As for some things that freeze better than others.........I have found coconut has a funky texture once frozen.....especially if it isn't wrapped well, too much moisture. Other cookie type ingredients should do fine though.
  13. I know what you mean.......I crave peace and quiet often and rarely get it.......but I try to remain patient as I know time will pass quickly enough and I'll wish for the noise once more. We had a quiet Valentine's dinner at home while the kids were on dates or at a dance........it was nice, but there is still something surreal about it. I wonder if we are ever happy?? LOL!
  14. boundaries.........boundaries.........boundaries I've been where you are. In one instance I ended the friendship, the other I have kept but I have.........you guessed it...........boundaries A great book that helped me tremendously in dealing with various difficult situations was Safe People by Townsend.........the same guy that wrote the books........you guessed it.........Boundaries There is a fine line, IMHO, between being a shoulder to lean on and being used to perpetuate bad behavior. Some people don't want to learn from their mistakes and they need people to condone the behavior so they continue without guilt. Only you can discern which your situation may fit. Good luck!
  15. I've started co-ops, I've participated in them, and I've ended them. Overall, I don't like them. I LOVE the concept of them.......but I have found that over the past 11 years few of them last long. I think smaller is better I think REALLY knowing the other parents and agreeing with discipline, religion, child raising, etc... is VITALLY important to success I think "KEEP IT SIMPLE" should be every co-ops mantra I will never do another one.......for us the benefit has never outweighed the hassle.
  16. is required here in California where we are.........its a 2 day class (I'm not sure how that is supposed to prepare them??)
  17. with everyone else.........there are a few yellow flags that come up for me 1. Recently divorced........lonely 2. Your own discomfort (I believe a lot in intuition) If it doesn't feel right.......don't.
  18. I liked it...........the only problem I had was that it took FOREVER to load the photos. If I was just pokin around, I wouldn't have waited....I tried out some other sites to make sure it wasn't my computer, but they loaded fine.
  19. I thought of a few other tips.... While you want the water to be HOT, do NOT start with hot water....ever......you need to start with cold water. Also, consider grinding your own beans....it makes such a huge difference. Don't sneak a cup early from the pot.......this will affect the entire pot as the first coffe is stronger than the last.... Add a tiny, tiny pinch of salt to your coffee filter........this will preven bitterness.......don't use too much or your coffee will taste salty I refuse to drink preground coffee anymore now that I know how good coffee can be...it really is worth it. I recently spent some bucks on a coffee maker that has a built in grinder........love, love, LOVE it........no effort at all to have awesome coffee. Play with beans........mild, medium, dark roast make huge differences in taste so experiment and see what "intensity" of flavor you like.
  20. Rotel Chicken 1-2 cups cooked chicken (I shred from a whole chicken.....this is good for left over chicken from another dish) 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can diced tomatoes 2 cups cooked rice 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Combine together and bake for 20 minutes to heat through at 350 degrees
  21. Early in my marriage and even as a teen I watched the shows you mentioned. And since it looks like you were an ABC girl the one you are probably forgetting is One Life to Live (with the Buchanan family) I remember Luke and Laura.......Tad and Dixie....and even some movie stars that started out there......I haven't watched them in over a decade now and am not sure I can stomach how they've changed since TV in itself has gotten so raunchy.......I can only imagine soap operas now!
  22. I hate when all my book choices come in at the same time and I have to "choose" which one to read...... I try to pace them out so I'm constantly looking forward to something new......and I try to only check out what I know I can read in that time because so many times I"ve checked out or requested a book, not been able to read it, have to take it back to the library and then forget that I never had a chance to read it.......
  23. if you use regular tap water that can change the taste a lot from day to day. True coffee affecienados use bottled water......not distilled though. Also, in packaged coffe, the quality of beans can vary greatly, so you may get some good beans and then the next day a few bad beans can affect the entire taste.
