At our hospital they'll make him reschedule it if he doesn't take it........its darn near impossible to get a good scope and accurate results if you don't "clean things out" The straw is a good idea, because you bypass most of your taste buds that way. If its the taste that's the problem. If its consistency......not much to do, but holding your nose helps with that problem. If its psychological..........than he's out of luck unless he can just force himself to do it. I didn't look at the time on this post, but it seems kinda late for taking the stuff for tomorrow..........but maybe its later in the day..........just wondering??

Silly question for bloggers...
Rachel replied to ~Tara~'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
I DO bookmark the blogs I like to read, and the ones that I read the most.......along with the ones that go along with who I think MY audience is for my blog I put into a roll list on my blog. I don't put them all there as that would be a big list.....but I do rotate. -
Cathie, I find the activities on the website to be more group oriented, but the ones in the book are very "individual" friendly.

Need Chemistry help!
Rachel replied to LearnFromHome's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
We use Aleks for math and really like it........I've been searching for something for Chemistry next year so thanks for mentioning this..........it may be just what we've been looking for! -

Prarie Air...........while our situations may not be exactly alike, there are many similarities. A sad realization came when DH's dad was dying 3 years ago and all DH could think is why could SHE go first.......we were actually terrified at the thought of being left with HER. Fortunately she latched onto some guy 2 months after he died (that's a whole other hurt we have), moved in with him and got married 9 months later. Whew! My husband has constantly said he would be perfectly happy to never see her again. He was driving with my mom to son's basketball game last week (I was working) and apparently he told my mom that he has more feelings for her than he's ever had for his own mother. That makes me happy and makes my heart break at the same time for him. Some people should never be allowed to parent children

I have to work Easter in the afternoon and we'll have church in the morning..........so what could we make that would be easy to do in the few hours I'll have inbetween? We usually do the whole nine yards dinner.......but I've never had to work before either. So, any suggestions??

Carol thanks so much.........my daughter's favorite food of all time is rice pilaf, but I can't find a simple recipe for it............this will be perfect!!!

Have you tried controlling it with medication at all? Frankly any child under the age of 6 with diarrhea longer than 24 hours is in danger of severe dehydration. It happens quite quickly. Considering the longevity of the diarrhea in all the children, personally I would have them all seen. It should not last that long, even with the severest of bugs.

At what age do girls start shaving their legs?
Rachel replied to mo2's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Thanks for clarifying abbey -
LOL Valerie...........I know that there are a lot worse MIL out there and frankly I should be grateful that I don't have to deal with her more often. I think by taking the high road we eliminate becoming the victim. My mom used to always tell me that nobody can make you mad, you CHOOSE to be mad............ I hate it when she's right!!!:D

I think I was around 13yo when I started. My 13yo daughter however is not interested and I have discouraged her just in telling her once you start you'll have to keep it up. She has blonde hair and I explained (and showed) how it will come back black after that. I think once they show an interest and realize they'll have to keep it up is when they should do it...........whether its 10 or 20.......its about them wanting to. If you push it and rush it, it'll become a headache for you both. -
I agree that doing all of that could constitute an Honors English credit or 2 seperate credits. I didn't do any grammar this year, but focused on writing, vocabulary and literature...........and it is still considered English. I was told you don't have to do all of the disciplines every single year to be considered an "English" class.....

Another vote for Write Guide............used them, love them...........they are very flexible and give you lots of choices and feedback

We are using Henle Latin with Mother of Divine Grace's guide. I like Henle's straight up approach, and we didn't want to do all the history that is a part of so many other programs as we had already done it to death. I also needed something my son could be independent on most of the time........and it has proven to be so. He has done well with it and for his A-type, logical brain he likes the way it is broken up.

We tried Apologia and just couldn't get into it. Then my son went through a charter school and had to use a secular textbook but we found we really liked it and just augmented some of the evolution stuff with materials we already had. Glencoe Biology:Dynamics of Life is what we used and we used the free teacher materials online which really made this an independent study class for my son. He would read the section in the text(and he has a workbook of critical thinking type questions to go with this) then he would answer the questions in the book. At the end of each section they had quizzes online he would take and at the end of each chapter was a chapter test. The website also had some videos, project ideas, study games and vocabulary that you can use as well. I really didn't have to put a lot of effort into designing this class as it basically was "read a section a day, fill in the notebook, do a quiz/test when it comes time". He did do a one day a week lab class at the school.........but we easily could have done this at home. It had easy to do at home experiments throughout the book.

I really liked Horizons too....... We also used R&S successfully for a few years as well

opinions on the Odyssey made for tv movie
Rachel replied to Jeannie in NJ's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
I thought it was just "okay"..........I thought it was a little overacted and dragged along in parts. All that aside I think it would be fine to watch........and frankly I can't thing of any other alternatives. The sensuality I'm trying to remember............I don't remember it being over the top (I usually remember that kind of thing)
