  1. Thank-you, Lisa. Seems like I ran across the MCT site a year or so ago and wasn't intrigued. However, in looking up what you were talking about- I browsed around a bit and am curious about if for my 9th grader. I really liked what I saw. The Language Arts program makes me think she would thrive using these. Could you tell me the process that these books use? Will she have to have the whole curriculum? She's a little fuzzy on her grammar, but quick to learn.
  2. Hi Tina~ When you asked us to pray for you to be gentle and patient, I thought of the book I've been reading: "How to Talk, So KidsCan Learn", of course by the same author as "How to Talk, So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Can Talk"- by Adele Faber ( LINK HERE ) I'm not finished reading it- but I read the second title above a couple years ago (I need to reread it!) They're interesting and thought provoking. :)
  3. Whhhhhoooaaaaaa! Do you... Do you have an older version of my boys? I'm ALL ears!
  4. These aren't NF only- but for what it's worth- http://www.classical-homeschooling.org/celoop/100.html http://books.mirror.org/gb.titles.html HTH
  5. This is for the computer- but it is great. Oh- no. I just looked it up and it IS on iphone- $5! It's called Metal Case!! flashcardexchange.com You DO pay a one time fee- $20 (w/ 30 day money back guarantee) and then you're off to create, and search, print, and I think play a few games as well. have fun!
  6. To all you pros and anyone else who would like to jump on in and give a girl a hand: :grouphug: (I wanted to make a poll for this- but couldn't find how to. Is that just for administration?) Getting to the point...Drum roll please! If you had to choose: Would you recommend learning vocabulary words, or the decoding process- Learning prefixes, suffixes and roots? I have another question- but I will wait until there are answers to this one first. :nopity:(I know, you just can't wait for me to pick your brain some more!) > I did post this in the lower grades forum, but I wanted opinions from here as well, as maybe looking back you would've done something different- or not!

  8. Can anyone advise me if I really need the teacher's edition when using Total Health? Thanks!
  9. So, is the Apologia Biology listed as "Honors Biology"? Is that the same thing?
  10. I'm about to have my kids start setting up their timelines for this next year. What would be a good amount of time to section off at a time? I want them to date it (of course), title it, and add a brief comment/detail about the person or event. Sometimes maybe they will paste/draw a picture. Our focus this year will be on the middle ages; about 400-1500. thanks so much :grouphug:

  13. THAT'S AWESOME! That is the one I have been looking at! YEAH!!!!! :D
  14. hi. I'm looking for any advice, reviews, comments, or any other helpful info that can point me to a great umbrella school in TN. We live in IL, but will (hopefully) be moving before the end of the school year (2010-2011). We most likely will still be here when the school year starts. I did find a list of umbrella schools, but it wasn't all of them and I'm not sure how to go about checking them out. Any thoughts? I'd prefer christian, but am not closed-minded. :bigear:
  15. I'm going to assign X amount of pages per day. Both my boys do the "daydreaming" thing, so time slots don't work that great. As far as the testing out- I'm just going to have them do it all. I know that sounds crazy for some, but they aren't the best spellers. I just want them to have a firm foundation. After reading the posts- I guess I'll start out with... well, 1 or 2 pages per day, and see how it goes. I'm really interested in how this will work out in the end. Hopefully it will help them. :)
  16. hmm... okay, so it is a just whatever type thing.. Anyone else? :bigear:
  17. If you are using Megawords 1- could you please tell me your weekly schedule? How long does it take you to do one list? Are you suppose to do one every week or what? I know you should go by the student- but I'm looking for a starting point here. I see there are eight lists. If I divide it for the year it would be about 4 weeks per list. Is that what you all do? :glare: I really want to make this work! Thanks!
