Best way to prepare eggplant
Fran51 replied to Denise in Florida's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Slice eggplant medium thickness; dip in beat eggs (2 usually); coat slices in fine cracker crumbs; fry in olive oil over medium-high heat til golden brown; salt. Goes well with fresh sliced tomatoes from the garden. Enjoy! -
Very good. Thank you for this!

Thanks, Ladies!:)

Please explain the following sentence regarding correct usage of the pronoun "me." No one in my class is just like me. If I use a check method and think, "No one in my class is just like I am," then "me" would be incorrect. What am I missing? Thanks.

To me, it sounds like a mom's natural bonding with her young son is being threatened. I feel for you. My experience with local so-called top-notch schools was not that impressive, once I really observed the day-to-day happenings. Looking back, having my child in our home environment was important in so many ways (esp at the young ages). As time moved on, academics took a more serious role; hs'ing offered opportunities that would have been impossible in a traditional school setting. When I was in similar shoes many years ago, I chose the hs'ing route. I believe we share a priceless closeness because of that decision. Not always easy, but absolutely no regrets. Follow your heart.:)

Unfortunately, we have no cyberschool options available at this time. It probably would not be a bad idea for my dd to be concentrating more on writing (she is 7th gr). I do not feel competent in that area, and she may respond better to another instructor. Thanks for sharing your experience with Calvert.:)

The cost is definitely a concern. I'm sort of thinking of trying the ATS for a semester (beginning 7th) to get a feel for Calvert. If all goes well, we could do the VA for 8th. I did see the group (thank you!) and am working my way through prior discussions. Good way to continue the investigation process.

Amy, My head spins, thinking about all that you have on your plate. You sound as if you are forging ahead with a solid, proven program and getting the job done. I admire your dedication. I am leaning towards trying Calvert for a semester with the virtual academy. More than once I've found references supporting the program as being superior to the average private/ps system. At this point in our hs'ing journey, I think my dd would benefit from the VA. I'll be calling the Calvert reps with lots of questions. Thanks for sharing.:)

Thank you, Amy. I will investigate the yahoo group and hopefully find some input.:) btw, what has been your overall impression of Calvert?

Anyone? :crying:

Anyone on the board have input? :bigear:

Does anyone have experience with Calvert Virtual Academy for middle schoolers? It seems relatively new. I am not familiar with any of the Calvert options, but the VA is catching my interest for a 7th grader. Thanks for any info.

Dyan, thank you so very much! You are a wealth of French information, and I will study all your resources. I've been procrastinating -- how nice it will be to finally get going on this.
