  1. This just made the Christmas list for dd (if we wait that long :001_smile: ) She LOVES both Monopoly and Clue. Looks like fun.
  2. Parker Stevenson (Hardy Boys) though that was more pre-teen I guess Bruce Penhall (CHiPs)
  3. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I am so very sorry for your great loss. Continuing to keep you and your family in prayer.
  4. Excellent quote and a great thread following. Thanks for linking. OhElizabeth is one whose posts I look for. There is enough wisdom in just the first paragraph to last a lifetime! My youngest has dragged me (sometimes kicking and screaming) out of the parenting box world with his unique set of significant challenges. Now that I'm out I can't ever imagine going back.
  5. So very, very true. Life outside the box(es) can be a scary but incredibly wonderful place. Letting go of the constraints is not easy but so freeing when we are able to see them for who they are and learn to embrace it. The quote in my siggy was put there initially with one child in mind but in reality fits them all. I am daily inspired by other parents here. The Hive, at times, has taught me more than years of schooling ever did :)
  6. Very much like Have Kids. Several months for full use. Sorry!! I've had several dislocations. You have my sympathy :grouphug: Mine ended with the need for reconstructive surgery on both knees. Hope your's heals up quickly for you.
  7. A bit ridiculous isn't it! I'd be hauling back to the store.
  8. Just passing this on.... "Out of caution, the company (Niagara) said it is recalling all its spring water products produced at its facilities in Hamburg and Allentown, Pennsylvania, from June 10, 3 a.m., to June 18, 8 p.m., 2015. The products were sold under the following 14 brands: Acadia, Acme, Big Y, Best Yet, 7-11, Niagara, Nature’s Place, Pricerite, Superchill, Morning Fresh, Shaw's, Shoprite, Western Beef Blue and Wegman’s". Story is here - http://abcnews.go.com/Business/bottling-company-voluntarily-recalls-14-brands-water-due/story?id=31947841
  9. I am so sorry to see your update! :grouphug: :grouphug:
  10. :grouphug: :grouphug: so glad she is getting care. Praying for you.
  11. My kids always wrote/write in workbooks/consumables. The only exception was a math workbook that simply didn't have enough space in some areas to work out problems. Long division I think. For those pages they wrote on paper. eta - more often than not we would take the pages out of the workbooks and keep them in binders. My kids really didn't like trying to work around the binding hump in larger workbooks.
  12. This looks really good! Thanks!! That's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. I've enjoyed quite a few of Kay Arthur's books.
  13. Dd wants to do an in-depth study on the attributes of God. Who He is, His purpose etc. I am looking for a good study to work through with her. I found Let God Be God from Purposeful Design. It looks to cover what we want but it is written for classroom use, although I don't know if that will matter. She does not want a study of how God worked through the lives of Bible characters but solely a study of God Himself. She said she's spent years in church learning about what God did and how He worked through others but has never really studied who God is. We will be working through SL's History of the Christian Church (200) and will add the above study as an addition. In case it matters - We are nondenominational (lean toward the charismatic side of things - ie. spiritual gifts are active and in use today although we don't hold to 'tongues as evidence' theology). Thanks!
  14. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  15. OK - you all are making me feel better. I thought my 513 was a lot but I see I'm actually in the minor league :) I keep meaning to do the folder thing but time gets away from me. I do get rid of the unwanted ones each day so those 513 are all important (or so I tell myself)
  16. So glad to see the good reports. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers :grouphug:
  17. I voted potato salad since I could only chose one but in reality I would say both potato salad and cole slaw.
  18. Great news!! So happy your daughter is doing better and no surgery !! :hurray:
