  1. I am surprised the schools want so many glue sticks. If each child brings 10 large glue sticks, then that would mean they were using them at the rate of one a month. That's a whole lotta glue! Even if they think only half the kids are actually going to buy the supplies, that's still a whole lotta glue! What on earth are they doing with all that glue??? I'm going to have to go get a supply list for our district tomorrow. I'm really curious to know what they require.
  2. I only have boys, so maybe I am missing something here, but why would a five year old girl be watching a show about teenagers? I thought Hannah Montana was for older girls, like ages 10 and up.
  3. Here is a link to a Lego "spare parts" site. Not sure if it was the one you were thinking of or not, but they have a good selection. :) http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=lepperk
  4. Wow, I hadn't heard this at all. Thanks for the info!
  5. You can also look at Sonlight. www.Sonlight.com They schedule SOTW3 in Core 7, along with accompanying literature.
  6. The second edition just came out in 2006, so I would be surprised if they were revising it again. Maybe you read some old information?
  7. I served on a jury once. I did enjoy seeing the process in action, and bonding with my fellow jurors. However, it was very draining emotionally because it was a child abuse case. The accused was a daycare center employee, and we did convict her.
  8. I heard her give this talk in person, and it was wonderful!
  9. A few years ago we drove 8 hours to hear Susan speak, and it was definitely worth it! Then last year she came to us at the Cincinnati Convention. Jessie Wise came this year, and Susan is coming back in 2009. I'm in heaven! :D
  10. Have you looked at Writing With Ease? It is an easy to implement curriculum for copywork, narration and dictation.
  11. Thanks so much! I'll hop over there now and take a peek. :)
  12. Thanks so much! This is just what I needed! :D
  13. I am definitely not a techie, so user-friendly is a plus. ;) Is there a way to keep it private, so people can't run a search and find it? I just want it to be available to myself and selected friends, for now.
  14. I'm interested in starting a blog. Do any of you experienced bloggers have advice for me? Is there a place I can blog for free?
  15. Here is the phone number for Rosetta Stone. 888-232-9245.
  16. Thanks for sharing your plan. This helps me out a lot! :D
  17. Apparently your 6th grader and mine are twins who were separated at birth! ;) I was looking at the Apples Spelling Curriculum. It reviews phonics and spelling rules, but is geared to older students who need a review. http://shpublishing.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/36?osCsid=5937d79ee3e68d83ed5a2535eada5c9f
  18. My field placements were definitely the most helpful part of my MEd program. I think it is interesting how many former teachers became homeschooling moms.
  19. I really liked my diaper champ and used it with both boys. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2908457#prod_prodinfo It uses regular trash bags, which I preferred to the Diaper Genie system. Buy the size 1's. You are not going to have a small baby. :)
  20. Noxzema takes the heat out of sunburn. My son has it on his face right now. And give him lots of liquids to drink.
  21. Okay, here is your kick in the pants. Go clean your kitchen right now! I'm going to go clean mine too.
  22. We like laminated. Sometimes, especially this time of year, you can find them at office supply stores.
  23. I would add fresh fruit with dip, and some kettle chips. Maybe some cheese and crackers too.
  24. I used to work with Elvis Presley's step-brother. And I met various celebrities at the hotels where I worked. BIL's cousin is Teri Hatcher's agent. BIL is a very talented sculptor and has celebrity clients like Anne Rice and Hilarie Burton.
