  1. He's 4 years old. I've always suspected something was wrong, he just doesn't seem to understand/listen to instruction a lot of the time. We had an IEP evaluation in the spring and he tested just a few months below his age, not enough to need help from IEP. Well, he started pre-k a couple of weeks ago and his teacher, who sat in on our IEP meetings, said she wants me to have his hearing tested. I scheduled the appointment for next week but I don't think it's his hearing. He does seem to not hear us when we're talking to him sometimes, but it's very inconsistent. I've tried whispering to him and he hears me just fine. I feel like he isn't fully comprehending us. It's very difficult teaching him anything, colors, letter, numbers, shapes. He has gotten alot better in the last few months but when asked "what color is this ball?" he would answer "Chicken." or "Spiderman.", when asked "What letter is this?", he would answer "Letter!" Like I said he's gotten alot better but it's VERY inconsistent. Sometimes he'll get a correct answer and then you ask him the same question later and he gives a response that is so off the wall, crazy! When playing soccer, his coach will yell for/instruct him to do something and he just stands there like he doesn't know he's being spoken to. Any ideas on what this could be?
  2. Yes!!!!! I was surprised by the ending of last season so I can't wait to see what happens next. I <3 Fringe!!!
  3. I just want to THANK YOU SO MUCH for making me SO curious about the shoe thread that I had to go and find it! 20 pages?!?! GEESH!! I better fix another pot of coffee!
  4. I really try to say autumn because I like the way it sounds, but in Maryland I hear most people say fall, and my family says fall, so I tend to use fall the most. When talking to my kids, especially, I make a real effort to say autumn.
  5. I received this in the mail today. Hopefully I'll be able to find some time to watch it soon.
  6. Unfortunately this is VERY common. I used to sell alot on the internet. I'd get about 5-10 emails daily from people trying to scam me. I can tell before I even open an email if it's a scam, that's how often I'd get them.
  7. Sounds similar to what we all have around here. We have colds/stomach bugs. Hope you get better soon. I wanted to be sure you weren't feeling this way for a long time because my Mom felt sore and tired for a very long time (thought it was just a part of age), well then she found out she had MRSA and she went on antibiotics and she said she hasn't felt this good in years.
  8. I would at least email her back and tell her what you CAN afford. You never know, she may be willing to help out a fellow homeschooler. :)
  9. Yup, horses ARE expensive. That's why we haven't done it yet. :( I would so love to get my kids horseback riding lessons.
  10. Is she charging $15 or $105? I think somewhere you have a typo. ETA: Oops, just saw that you have seven kids. I don't think $15 is too unreasonable but I think they should be able to ride longer. I also don't think you should have to pay for your 2 year old. I would think she would give you a break since they are all your children. If it's too much I would email her back and explain that all of the kids are yours and that is alot for you to spend, can she give you a discount for signing up so many children.
  11. I purchased mine from Target. It's about 2' x 3' and it was $16.99. Maybe you have one by you and they're a similar price.
  12. Awesome website! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! :D
  13. dmaps.com? It's not working for me. :001_huh: I'm just getting a weird domain name page with advertisements.
  14. I have one for orders over $35, let me know if you could still use it. It expires September 30, 2010.
  15. Could you please give the link to where I would go to request this? A quick search for it on their website turned up nothing. TIA!
  16. Awesome idea Megan, thank you so much for sharing! I pm'ed you with my email address too. Hope you don't become too swamped with requests. :tongue_smilie:
  17. Wow, that just creeped me out big time. If this happened to me I would not tell anyone that I was aware of someone coming in my house and I would stay up all night to see who was coming in my house. I would also have a video camera on the front door all night. I might borrow a friends dog and/or have someone stay with me. I really would do everything possible to catch these people.
  18. Awesome! I had NO idea you could do this! Thanks for posting this question and thanks for the answer. This is going to save me SO much time.
  19. Yup, it's a scam. I would put 'return to sender' on the envelope and send it back.
  20. MY daughter has been using Explode The Code for a couple of weeks now and she thinks it's fun. It's the subject she asks to work on first everyday! She knew all of the CVC words so we started with book 2. They are also inexpensive.
  21. I just said this to a friend the other day! What comes after Bob Books?! We picked up a bunch of level 1 readers at the library and they are just too dang hard for her. She's also 7 and a struggling reader. These books lower her confidence. So does anyone know of any in-between books?
  22. That is so funny! I do the same thing with my dd. She doesn't necessarily like for me to introduce new school material to her so I play with it at the table, pretending I'm having the best time, and curiosity will eventually get the best of her. She will come over to me and say "What is that? Can I have a turn?" She is 7 now, how long will that last? :D
