  1. Sunscreen costs, ya'll. I am stunned. We are in Florida and always have some on hand but I pulled the last one from the closet. When browsing for backups, I was shocked. I can't afford to be too picky about brand/ingredients now.
  2. I don't use RS math, but I would suggest looking closely at the second half of the book. I often feel like math is on repeat until I get further in and realize it is actually a step up.
  3. Yep. Ours noticably change if we mention Cali, who passed in 2021. And when we mention Miriam, who strays often, one gets mouthy like he's telling on her, and another looks around for his sister.
  4. Check out the Gakken toddler "workbooks".
  5. I was shocked. We don't go often. Maybe 2-3 times a year? Wasn't expecting that with "$5 footlong" jingle in recent memory.
  6. My husband got Subway for lunch. A footlong BMT with chips and a drink is now $14.
  7. So funny, I also read them as a kid. Someone gave me old copies of the first 6. I have them on the shelf for my kids. I did read some Amazon reviews and a couple people said there were some now non-PC quips but I don't remember the references.
  8. I agree with this. I was shocked years ago when in a mommy group on FB for babies born a certain month, people were talking birthday gifts for friends- toddlers!- and spending $50 or more on gifts for 2 year olds. And they vaguely apologized for it by saying they spent more on nieces and nephews? I don't have the budget to spend $50 on any kid other than my own. At the time of that particular thread, I was lucky to have $10 to spend on a friend's kid. $20 a pop on my nieces/nephews was extravagant (especially since I have 15 of them). I do give as much as I can for weddings, baby showers, and graduations. $50 on a third birthday for a kid at mommy and me class is a big no.
  9. This. There is one in our town that started out with variety. I haven't found a kids book in a year. Romance novels fill 80% of the space when I drop off. I took a dozen picture books today and only saw romance and 1 magazine.
  10. No, family land not too far away. Some we inherit eventually but could take a part of now. There are still a lot of things to consider and plan for before we make a decision. I have to talk to city next week.
  11. We are purging like crazy just at the thought of putting the house on the market. Realtor's numbers came in farrrr higher than my estimations so we are definitely considering it.
  12. Side note for one baby shower gift that people seem to love... Oxiclean stain gel. I usually do a registry item that I like, Boynton book, and Oxiclean. Something fun and something practical.
  13. My go-to Boynton is The Going to Bed Book. I give every new mom one. Same. This annoys me just as much or more than gift dictates. I literally hate it.
  14. It is increasingly common but I find it annoying. I'd pick a reasonable registry gift, a book you like with an inscription, and skip the diapers. Or skip the book and take diapers. Registries are one thing; dictating multiple gifts from all guests is another.
  15. I also edit with my kid. I read the whole thing out loud pausing very briefly anywhere there is an odd word or sentence. He usually hears it then and offers a fix or explanation. Then we mark it line by line and if he needs to find a more descriptive word or change a tense, he does it then.
  16. Get the placement test for Saxon newbies. You could do 8/7 or 1/2 (the 8/7 is usually recommended) but she may be past both and ready for Algebra. I would work on percentage all summer regardless. Kumon or Kahn or even Life of Fred.
  17. Septic has to be pumped. $300 but quotes ranged from that to $500.
  18. Congrats! Did you follow a recipe book or online? There is a spunky lady on Youtube whose video I follow because she is just funny.
  19. I am not at all surprised but I am frustrated on your behalf. They really aren't trained on Lyme and TBDs. There are still so many who think you have to be in the NE with a bulls eye, fever, and tick hanging on for it to be "legit".
  20. We have been here 13 years and did it only once before. I don't recall what it cost. But I read about new construction changing the water table and that may be why we have new issues. Time is also a factor because it has been 5ish years or more.
  21. Thanks. I called around and got quotes in this order... 500, 400, 375, 300.
  22. Not death, but about 8 years ago I started getting hives EVERYWHERE an hour after taking my thyroid medication. I had taken it for a decade, no changes to type, no recalls, no mistakenly different pill. I had just picked up a new bottle and was reacting worse each time. After many calls and hours of digging, we found out they weren't cleaning the tray between med counts and my Rx was contaminated with residue from something I was allergic to. They had to file a report and give me a new bottle of pills.
  23. Obviously I can call tomorrow but how often do you have yours done and how much does it cost you? 4 houses near me have had theirs done very recently and I'm thinking it's overdue for us.
  24. CVS gave me my SIL's BCP before. I'd be pissed if someone had my Rx and info. Let us know what they say/do.
