  1. We have the Chicco Keyfit this time and have liked it. My 8 month old still has one harness slot to grow into and he is above average length. (don't know his exact measurement, but 75th percentile last month at check up) We usually leave his seat in the car, so I don't worry about lifting it.
  2. Wow, great thread! My 3yr old is in LOVE with instruments.
  3. Hmm..... I just bought an older version at a curriculum sale.
  4. Thanks! I didn't think about the fact that the Billy shelves have more options. I can't buy a second bookcase due to lack of room (the current one will have to move to a bedroom) and we will need the lower shelves for school storage. Toddler toys already have a home just a few feet away on built ins in the living room.
  5. I am hoping to buy shelves for our school books/supplies (in dining side of kitchen) when I go to Ikea later this week. What I have wanted is something with child-proofable doors on the bottom half and open shelves on top. I have browsed craigslist for over a year but found nothing in my price range. We currently have an average size (5ft?) 5 shelf bookcase in this area, but because of toddlers the bottom 2 shelves don't have much on them. (and we hope to have more little ones in the future :) ) So my original thought was this Billy shelf with this extension - but I still think that price is kind of high for what you get. (the same bookcase without the lower doors is half the price) Now a friend mentioned to me that I could mount a smaller Expedit on top of a bigger one - and that is initially cheaper than my first option. Though if I wanted to close off the lower shelves it would definitely add to the cost. Plus I don't know which choice would work the best (doors or drawers) or if I could add cabinet locks to them. On the plus side, I think the Expedits would be more versatile than the Billy if we chose to use something else in the future. Any thoughts? Reviews on those Expedit doors/drawers? Or any other amazingly wonderful option I haven't thought of? I would like to keep it under $200, but the closed off bottom shelves are a must. Thanks!
  6. Thanks! I know to expect some wait time and we don't need the stuff for at least a month. It will be a nice surprise!
  7. I know that RR is not Amazon but I'm wondering what to expect regarding the order I placed last week. Will I get a shipping notice? Which shipping service do they use? I'm also trying to figure out if I need to be here for the delivery. I'm excited!!!
  8. Do you have number magnets he could use sometimes? Sometimes I write answers for my dd and let her trace them.
  9. Thank you both! :D
  10. I thought I had read here that the starter kits were available at RR, but all I am finding is the individual levels? Just trying to finalize my RR order and was hoping I could get everything there. Am I missing them somewhere? Thanks!
  11. I've avoided them for my DD after reading on another board about sass and also a boyfriend. On that board people were recommending Cam Jansen books instead - any thoughts?
  12. My supply is not low yet, but I am thinking ahead. Are the best paper deals at back to school time or some other time of the year? Thanks!
  13. Wow, thank you for all of the replies!!! It sounds like the IP might be more what we need, to dig deeper. (or I may just get both, as I have a feeling Dh will say to do that if I ask lol)
  14. I am planning to stretch 1A out over the whole K5 year for DD and thought I would get one of the extra books. However, I don't really know much about them. Do you prefer Challenging Word Problems or Intensive Practice? Thank you! (I'm also still undecided about whether to get Textbook, Workbook and Home Instructor Guide or just the Textbook and Workbook - if you feel like weighing in on that choice too :) )
  15. I have both the "Pooh Library Original 4 volume set" ($32) and "The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh" ($25) on my amazon wish list, which probably means I found them on two different book recommendation sources at different times. Any thoughts on which one would be preferred? They both have high ratings. I think it might be easier to have the 4 smaller books but that does cost more. Thanks!
  16. I've also been wondering how things have been. :)
  17. Nice! I just skimmed it now but am looking forward to reading the whole thing tonight.
  18. We are enjoying Singapore Essentials B and I just use beans if I feel the need for a manipulative. I would like to own some linking cubes though. One thing I really like about Essentials is the instructions for extra activities at the bottom of the pages are so concise and easy to follow - no planning ahead or complicated steps.
  19. My daughter is beyond this level for sure, but I think my kids would LOVE those hard back books. I'm definitely not letting them see the zebra puppet lol.
  20. :grouphug: Would love to know the name of the math book you are using, so I can pass it along to friends!
