  1. He did not take the PSAT just the SAT. DH had trouble with chem so he views it as a very hard class (It was intro to chem not general chem. so easier). DH wants my son only taking 12-13 credits at a time to keep his GPA up. This semester one of the courses require an internship which will take up more time then a regular class. Science is not my son's strong point but he likes chemistry. He wants my son to take classes that will make him more career ready in his field vs. knocking out General ED courses. However we agreed to knocking out general ed courses months before putting in his application. I can't help but feel DH wasn't listening or didn't really grasp it until seeing my sons finalized schedule which was after the add period. If I was told this was happening the day before I could have dropped science and added another GE class he needed.
  2. He is applying as a freshman because he's a FTIC student. When his AS degree transfers (which he's getting DE.) he's going to switch majors to a "capstone" degree as a junior. There was no spot to put that he is switching majors and we've been told not to worry about that just to get accepted and then they will deal with that. However now with the dropped courses I'm worried that if we don't do an addendum it'll look bad but WITH the addendum he looks wishy-washy at least it will make his application truthful though.
  3. He's applied and will get the acceptance/rejection letter in Oct. 1st but it says changes can affect acceptance. So I want to be absolutely honest with them because I don't want him to get accepted and get it rescinded.
  4. Yes, but on his application we put that he was getting both and we put all the classes he was suppose to take this year and now that has changed. He would start University in Fall 2020.
  5. We dropped him from Chem. So now we have find out whether we have to do an amendment in his application as he will no longer be taking the classes towards the AA program. He'll have an extra math and English but not his sciences or other classes needed for the AA. Unfortunately this means he will be in school for longer but this is best.
  6. So my son was going to get his AS and AA this May. So we filled out his application and planned classes as such. He wasn't able to apply to the degree that he wanted as a FTIC student so he applied as a similar program that has the same classes as the first semester in his intended program. Well after debating for months and asking my husband for his opinion (before applying) he saw that my son was taking chemistry this semester and does not want him to take it. We're at the point where we can no longer add classes just withdraw. If my son does not take chemistry this semester he will not get his AA. So now my son will not be taking Science in DE. Leaving him only requiring to take 1 class in the spring instead of 5+lab. So my son should do an ADDENDUM right? Since he is not taking those AA classes. Will that look bad? Should he include that he's going to switch major after receiving his AS degree? I don't want him to get in then get it rescinded for something like untaken classes or major change. We've emailed his future major advisor and have not gotten a response yet. I want to drop the science soon so that someone else can have the spot.
  7. They don't mail an acceptance/rejection letter? See if he wants to call admissions and ask while your there. Ask if it's okay for you to check his student portal with or without him there. If he does get in ask if he wants you to go to help sign up. Really you'd just be there for moral support or if your child knows the proccess have them go with your Honorary Child
  8. We're sending invitations that saying Graduating high school with an AS in web development.
  9. Advance mathematics. My son took a class called College math readiness but that sounds like a remedial course. Intro to calculus and statistics?
  10. Life of Fred goes up through linear algebra and beyond. It's told in a storybook way.
  11. My son will graduate with an AA and AS. He will still be considered a freshman when enrolling into a university in my state. Which means he's required a higher GPA, SAT/ACT, high school transcript and all the other freshman requirements. He will take upper level courses and be a junior when classes start. However this is just my state schools all schools are different.
  12. My son switched his major to avoid calc+. He's a tech kid that doesn't care for math. He took up through trig as high school and college algebra and will take stats as his second college level math.
  13. We fill out the applications together. He fills it out. I'm just there if he needs anything. We've been working on the common app for years.
  14. I have filled out my son's portion of the common app. Where's the school's portion?
  15. It depends on what major your child is going into. If it's a STEM field then do pre-calc. My son took college algebra and will take stats.
  16. 1. How difficult was it to make sure all classes were accredited? Meaning, the online school our son attended last year was fully accredited. We didn't worry about accreditation except for foreign language. 2. How hard was it to create a transcript for your child? It's a page long document that lists his classes, the year taken, and grades. So it was pretty easy to keep up every semester. 3. Did your child have a hard time getting accepted into a college? He automatically gets in to our local college because he's currently a dual enrollment student. He's currently applying to State Universities. 4. How did you keep up with everything? Meaning, what was or is the most efficient way of making sure all is completed as it should be throughout these years. We planned his 4 years of high school out. Then kept plugging away at each subject. When one finished we'd start the next. We school year round so it was easier for us to complete everything. It's taken us 5 years because of dual enrollment and age.
  17. Even if we do all Financial Aid, loans, and work study we still won't make the numbers that they state on their website. However we BARELY make it if we choose the cheapest dorm, only 12 credits a semester, we assume the "other expenses", and we're really frugal with books. He's already getting his AA and AS degree. So it's 2-2.5 years of university. He'll need paid internships through out but it's doable. The more affordable option is to get a bachelors degree in a field he doesn't want (tech management: concentration programming). I don't think he would mind if he really did not dislike the online component of that school. We're still working on scholarships but he's an "average" student. We couldn't/can't save for college, not everyone can. He's not a kid that can work AND do school. So he's not currently working. He has about 150 hrs of community service but that's not a lot in comparison to others. I know people who just filled out the financial aid form and have yet to put their classes in that plan to attend fall. Some people just don't have it in them to plan especially that far ahead.
  18. If our estimation is wrong in a negative way my son has to make some hard choices. Including sitting out a year to work full time to pay for school. Most likely even with his FA package he will have to work some. We'll help but we don't have much to help out with. We will not take out loans because even if we get approved there's no way we can pay it. He took/is taking all the classes he can take at a community college level. When/if he does get accepted he will probably work from that point on. I'm glad our college's have affordable Bachelors degrees about $100/credit cheaper then Universities. Meaning you can get a BS for just over $14k. However there's some as low as $10k.
  19. His pre-rec for his major is an AS degree. The 300/400 level courses have no pre-recs for the 7 major classes and 9 upper level electives. It'll still take him 2 years to get through.
  20. It's small but I eat small meals too. I'd eat that size but my boys would get 2x that.
  21. We have simple Metal Platform Bed Frame, no need for box springs with them. Our king frame costed $115. If you don't have to buy anything new then I wouldn't. I'd buy a good futon before a twin xl.
  22. Publix has pre-made food kits and they deliver. Sometimes when it's just us two we do that.
