  1. I'm so sorry you are going through this, Nayfiesmama. :grouphug: We just recently moved an hour away from a lot of my friends. It is hard, and I get lonely sometimes. I really appreciate this forum to "talk" with other home school moms. :) I will be praying that you find a sweet , close, friend! And I'm so sorry about your mother. This is a valley for you right now :(
  2. Ya know, I haven't been tested for celiac disease. I really don't think I have it, because I don't fit the "being skinny" part it :) Everything I have read says that the person with celiac usually is very thin..which is not me. I'm not really overweight, just average size 10/12. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
  3. It is worth it! I have also found that going out to eat is really hard as well! But the upside to that, is that I will have more money to spend on gluten free food ;)
  4. mommyfaithe, I totally get the " being down for the night, yet having a hard time sleeping". Ugh, it makes it hard to get up to homeschool the kiddos. But we keep pressing on, huh? :) Gluten free is pretty expensive, but it does help. For now I'm going to have to forgo that new pair of jeans I need etc., ...well, and it would probably behoove me to lose some weight first!:D
  5. That is very encouraging to hear! Thanks! I'm glad your sister is better :grouphug:
  6. It looks to me like the gaps diet also is gluten free, but also avoiding processed or refined foods. Am I right? It looks good. How long did it take you to see results, happygrrl? I am still on my gluten free diet and have been feeling better, but I read it can take up to 6 months to a year to really see a difference..anyone have different results? I also notice stress really brings on pain and fatigue, no matter what so far.. :( Anyone with fibro have any wonderful ideas about how they have relieved their stress and helped their pain by doing so?
  7. Thank you ladies for all your advice and tips. Mamaofblessings, I had no idea that gluten was in anything other than food, and maybe pills. Thanks sooo much for sharing that! I am so sorry for your pain and sufferings tho. :( Gardenmom5, ...I thought starch was ok..maybe just corn starch? Lacie, I sure hope you find something that works for you...maybe on this post... Nicoleandco, I didnt know cal-mag would help. I did hear about vitamin D was good for autoimmune diseases, seeing my hubby has MS. Maybe something to try.. Jean in Newcastle, Thanks for the books to look up! I will take time to do that. I really did not realize so many people suffer from this horrible disease of fibromyalgia. And I did not realize, until it struck me, how disabling it could be! There have been times I could not pick up my baby! If anyone else here is suffering, and has found answers to what has helped with the pain, or eliminated it, I would love to hear your story. Hopefully something here could help others in their pain as well. :grouphug:
  8. I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the pain has been unbearable. I used to be one of those who thought this condition was not really real. Wow, was I wrong! Anyways, to make a long story short, over the past months, the doctor has tried different medications, all which either made me sick, or didn't work. I was getting really tired of hurting and nothing working, I have recently started a gluten free diet, because of some research I had done ( I was desperate:confused:) and my symptoms have gotten about 75 % better since on the diet! granted, I have not been on the diet long , and I have not been tested for gluten intolerance, but I have tons of the symptoms etc.. Anyone, who has fibromyalgia, knows it can make you desperate to try anything to get better! I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to mine. Should I get my hopes up that this diet may cure my pain? Is there a link with fibromyalgia and gluten? Any and all comments are welcome! I am not dead set on anything or any diet. If something has worked for your fibro pain, please share :)
  9. I had 4 c sections as well. My dr told me on the operating table I needed to get my tubes tied...unless I had some strict religious reason why not, because it was too risky to have another one for obvious reasons. I put that I had a few doubts,..it was more like I had a few "not wanting it to be true" moments, but another one could really be bad for my health, at the least. I am one of those moms who would want 10, but God knows :)
  10. My oldest read this at about 8 years old. She is a first born, very serious, and it made her think. I dont mind my children knowing real life issues that happened, with discretion, of course. It gives them more of a sense of what happens in the world around them. She read a version made for a child.
  11. Signed it as well. Breaks my heart !! Such a sweet baby! :( How desperate the mother must feel!!! You have the option of posting this story of on FB as well to get more petitions.
  12. Mine are totally normal. They have their subjects they love, and also many they hate. They complain about school some days, they rush through it on others... somedays they actually want to do school with a smile :) But mostly, .. they love their time outside digging in the dirt, loving the sunshine etc.. Ive thought about taking my story of the world book and reading it to them while they jump on the trampoline. Haven't done it yet though ;)
  13. Totally! Don't feel guilty! I hope you enjoyed the freedom! ... sounds like a nice day!:D
  14. :iagree: I agree. When people are ill, it takes alot for them to get up and get ready...I know. My husband was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a few years ago. Sometimes, it takes everything in him to go out to the store.
  15. I grew up with the wooden ironing board that turns into a chair and a step ladder! Love to get my hands on one of those!! I'm really no help. I have a big, bulky, metal one too.
  16. I had a tubal 9 months ago after the birth of my 4th child via c-section, and I have noticed a slight change in my cycle. I may be a little late one month, early the next, spotting in the middle. I was pretty regular before. Who knows,..I kinda chalk it up to me getting older..
  17. I do most of the cleaning around the house during the week. The kids take care of their own rooms etc.. Sat. is altogether different :) My kids each have a few chores that they specifically know how to do, - dishes, vacuum , bathrooms, etc.. that they help me with, and I usually reward them with something if they go over and above their regular jobs!
  18. I usually use their WWE lessons as part of their handwriting practice. I did purchase a handwriting book this year, but I dont use it as much as I should. :glare:
  19. I have always asked for them to put me on their "do not call " list when it is a real , live person but have always wondered about what to do about a prerecorded message.
