  1. Oh my gosh...me too! I am kind of paranoid about not having drain cleaner on hand.
  2. I'm another one who does not like to schlep home bulky things during the cold winter months. I live in an area that can receive some serious snow and pushing a loaded cart from Costco out into the snowy parking lot and loading my car in a windy 10 degrees, and then unloading again at home just kind of sucks. So, I tend to stock up too. I do canned goods, kitty litter, TP, paper towels, drinks, meat, medicine, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, batteries, and dog food. That way I can do a speedy trip into Trader Joes every other week for perishables. Or order from Prime Pantry.
  3. So glad you received an immediate response! I hope it will be quickly resolved today. :001_smile: SaveSave
  4. Yes, you should have heard from them by now. At least from the teacher alerting you to the Meet the Teacher sessions going on this week that RootAnn referred to. I agree with her that they can take a day or so to reply. I can pm you the email of the headmaster, Bruce Etter. He's better at responding in a timely fashion.
  5. I didn't read the other replies so sorry for any repeats. We used to live in Seattle and go back to visit regularly since family is there. In fact, just returned last night from 10 days in Seattle. Here are my favorite things about Seattle with kids. Pacific Science Center - we got a membership and used it frequently. It's an awesome science center! Seattle Zoo - our fav zoo and we've been to many. The parks in Seattle - there are so many awesome parks. Purchase a guide and visit each one. The water - So much to do on the water. There are numerous beaches to visit. We've kayaked and canoed through the University of Washington's Arboretum and it's a great time. We've also taken tours of Lake Union and Lake Washington and my kids really enjoyed seeing it all. The ferries - they are just plain fun to travel on and the views of the area can't be beat. Seattle Aquarium - another membership cause it's pretty expensive without but it's so charming and located downtown so close to other fun things like Pike Place Market. The libraries - awesome system. The unlimited hiking opportunities! With mountain ranges on both sides of the city, if you are a hiking family you will be in heaven. We loved living there. Hope you do too!
  6. I'll add another MUS success story :) We used MUS for my ds all the way through PreCal. He did well on the SAT and college placement tests. We did supplement with Khan Academy for SAT prep, which you could also use just for review.
  7. We had to call once years ago when we lived out in the country because a helicopter was circling our house from above with a spotlight beaming down on our house and surrounding land in the middle of the night. That was freaky. It turned out to be a police helicopter looking for someone who escaped from an ER before he was transferred to a mental health facility. Had to call 911 for chest pains for myself. No fun, but the two guys were terrific. Very calm and caring.
  8. I'm interested in the replies you receive as I've been wondering the same thing about my daughter's readiness for Algebra 2 this fall. We have Khan going, but that's it.
  9. Not sure how much the size of mine is going to shrink in the next few months, and in fact I expect it to grow while I'm over there as I plan to try every regional delicacy that I can. I'm doomed.
  10. We're headed to Germany, Poland, and Prague in late Oct. I've started thinking about packing and what I need to buy now for the trip. Any advice on what to take and what to avoid to blend in? Good ideas about great walking shoes or boots?
  11. Thanks for the review, Lori D! We studied US history this past year and when I saw the preview for this movie, I was really hoping it would be worthwhile. I think my graduate and I will head to the theater this weekend. :001_smile:
  12. The sounds of other people chewing food whether they have their mouths open or not. Really, doesn't matter. Don't like any of it. Nail filing or clipping. The sound of feet rubbing together. The word "puke" Any sound made by chewing gum...the chewing, the wet noises some people make, the popping of the gum...dread! I have issues.
  13. Zero regrets!! I started out highlighting and then had to do both a base color and highlights starting in early 40s because I had so much gray. Now at 52, I don't see myself ever stopping the coloring process. Gray hair and my skin tone aren't a great combo.
  14. I've had NERD for at least 8 years...can't remember exactly when it started. The only thing that controlled it was 20 mg of Prilosec every day and following a pretty strict low acid, low salt, low fat, low sugar (and low taste of course) diet. I really wanted off the PPI after reading various things and tried to go off a couple of times just cold turkey to see if I could manage it by diet alone and the use of Tums. Nightmare!!! So, I always ended up back on the Prilosec. Then my GI suggested I try Zantac - he wanted me to take the PPI and Zantac for a week together and then give up the PPI. I just decided to try the Zantac on it's own and so one day back in January I just switched to 300 mg of Zantac - one 150 mg in the morning and one in the evening before dinner. It was a rough 6 weeks in which some days I had to eat many Tums to get through a tough reflex episode, but as time progressed I was having more and more days of no symptoms. Around April, I was able to cut it down to one Zantac a day and now, I take around one a week. I am shocked and never expected to be able to live without pain or a PPI. I don't know what's in it, but I am a huge fan of Zantac. Zantac did what the PPI couldn't....heal my reflux enough to manage without meds and by diet only. :hurray:
  15. Congrats! :hurray:
  16. Praying for your husband and family!
  17. Adorable!! We have a 13 week old Aussie/Blue Heeler mix. She is the busiest animal I'm ever been around, and can be a bit exhausting, but she is such a love!
  18. Thanks everyone! I have a great list to research. Once the flying is over (nervous flyer) it looks to be a fantastic area to explore.
  19. Thanks! I'll look into all those places in Prague. Sounds wonderful!
  20. Prague is my dh's favorite place in Europe, but I've never been. Really looking forward to it! I love the idea of bike tours. Hadn't thought of that. I'd love to get the name of your place in Prague too. Thanks for all this info!
  21. Just ordered the Trumpeter of Krakow and it looks great! Both castles are going on our list. Thanks!
