  1. No soy products, and yes I think 39 is early too. That's why I made the appt. if I was 10 years older it wouldn't be as big a deal. I can't think of anything I've eaten differently either.
  2. OK, my monthly friend came yesterday started out normal, but by this morning. . .I am freaking out! I'm only 39! The flow is VERY HEAVY, super extra is filled in 1/2 hour. I was not pregnant, so we can rule that out. I have had cramps worse than usual yesterday and have had hot flashes for the past few weeks. I've made an appt with MW but it's not till Oct. I just need reassurances that heavy flow like this is a normal symptom of the CHANGE. Thanks for your advice! I really appreciate it! shell
  3. I just cannot fathom that! So every kid is entitled to an education, as long as you can get them there?
  4. While we're talking about that, I had jury duty this week. I got lucky and actually got picked for a jury. It was a civil case, and the parties settled minutes before we were ready to let the judge know we had reached a verdict. We wasted FOUR days in the courtroom. The clerk said that one of the judges here makes the attorneys pay the court costs and jury compensation if they settle once it's gone to jury. Good for him! Now back to your regularly scheduled posts. . .
  5. I'm not saying that climbers should pay for their own rescues all the time. . .let me clarify that. . .if you know there's a blizzard coming to the place you're planning to climb and the NWS or whatever gov't agency issues a statement that you are to stay away and you climb it anyway. . .you should have to pay for that cause in my opinion that's a stoopid stoopid-head! If it was a freak accident or something like that I don't think it's necessary.
  6. Ok, not to change the subject (REALLY!!!!), but can you clarify the "BUS" fee? Are you saying that you have to PAY for your child to ride the bus????
  7. In the case of mandatory evacuations or winter weather advisories, etc. I think the person being rescued needs to be billed for the cost of the rescue. It shouldn't be the burden of the taxpayers to pay for costly rescues when orders have been given to leave (as in the case of Ike) or stay away (winter weather-I'm thinking specifically of climbers). That's just my .02.
  8. My neighbors built one. . .I don't have any details about how but it was a skater magnet. They had kids over there all the time. I would think that it would be safer to practice new moves on a wooden pipe vs concrete. shell
  9. Good luck Karen! My DH works in SC's EOC so I can relate. We just went through that earlier this week! He either works a night shift or goes to the forward OC when they get activated so I don't see him at all (he sleeps in the spare room if he works the night shift). I'll keep you in my prayers! It hasn't rained much here, but we're far enough inland that we usually don't see much till the eye makes land. Keep us posted and let us know you're OK! shell
  10. I'm hoping it keeps on track east as well. Hanna looked like it was coming out way, but it slid east on us. Praise God! I'll be praying that you will all be safe! shell
  11. Tabrett, I'll PM you if I get any advance notice of evacuations. So be on the look out! I'll pray that you stay safe! shell
  12. Dh is in the National Guard, working for the Emergency Operations Center in the SC Emergency Management Division. He just called to tell me he's been activated. I probably won't see him till Hanna passes, he'll be at the operations center that they set up at the coast. Please continue to keep everyone on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts in your prayers cause the storms are lining up in the Atlantic. TD 10 is now named (Josefine, I think) and isn't real far behind Ike. My family should be ok. . .we're a couple hours inland, so it does get bad here and we do open up Evac Centers, but not to the extent of the coast. If it does look like it's coming straight for us, we might head to WV to my sisters, but I don't think we'll have to do that. . .we've ridden out storms before. I hope and pray that the Lord keeps all my internet "friends" safe during the hurricane season! shell
  13. When a thread gets deleted, the actual rep posts disappear, but the rep points still count. Thank goodness b/c my deleted post really boosted my non-existant rep count! shell
  14. I have a piano that's about as old as yours if not older. I've also had many tuners tell me not to bother with tuning it, to get a new one. I'm wondering if they weren't the ones that worked at a music store (I can't remember). I did find a couple that would tune it. The one that I use even does repairs on it (a couple of the hammers were broken and the felt had all worn out). He took a big chunk of it with him when he left the first time. . .he replaced a bunch of stuff on it and brought it back and tuned it. He didn't have any problems tuning it. In fact he told me that he loved the bass sound of older pianos, that new ones just don't have the same bass tone as new ones. The only reason that it would need to be tuned in pitch would be if you were going to play along with another instrument. If you were going to play the guitar and piano at the same time or if you were going to play along with a CD, it would need to be tuned to pitch. If it wasn't it would sound off key/out of tune. My tuner tuned it to middle C this last time b/c I don't use it with other instruments. I think it's a lot easier for them to do that. I am not a teacher and I have not majored in music in college, so there may be other reasons out there that I am unaware of. I do, however, play professionally and I have never had a problem arise. Good luck and keep the heirloom piano! I love mine! shell
  15. I am awed and amazed at you women that tough it out. OMG, a UTI is one of the worst things I've ever experienced! I can usually tell when one is coming (my ur*ne gets cloudy a few hours before the burning starts) and I'm on my way to the dr. immediately (after the AZO of course). I am the biggest baby when it comes to UTI's! So my hats off to you all that can fight it off w/o antibiotics! shell
  16. Danestress. . .good point. I hadn't thought about it that way. Thanks for the input. . .good rep comin' you way! ETA: Apparently I've already repped you recently, so maybe someone will rep you for me! shell
  17. They are no problem once they're finished! DH has had col. I have had a couple endo. We usually sleep through the ride home and for a couple hours once we get home, then I think we nap through the afternoon but after that we're usually good to go. You're not supposed to drive that day so I usually just enjoy sitting on the couch dozing. Good luck!!! Hope everything turns out well! shell
  18. :lurk5: I'm really curious to read what eveyone has to say about this. I was unvoluntarily volunteered to be our children's leader/director/what have you this weekend, and this thought crossed my mind.
  19. We originated our mortgage with a bank, and before we even closed the servicing had been sold. It's not a big deal. I don't think that DR recommends one mortgage company over another due to servicing issues, but more likely due to ethics. Mortgages are bought and sold every day and it's not a big deal. I wouldn't sweat it either way. HTH! shell
