  1. Warmup looks a lot like Kickstart. Later tonight my dd and I will do the next one and I will let you know. So far, it looks nearly the same. I have to say the DVD instructors are really good and the combinations are easier to follow that other programs I have tried. I will view the other links later. Got to get some school done! In other news, BJJ done last night and it was a doozy! I considered working out this morning but I was moving sooooooo slow. Will have to wait until the evening.
  2. I have only done one workout. One of the bonus DVDs I got for being a coach is Live workout (looks like a concert setting). Looks the same as what is studio produced for the home. Kickstart had jumping front snap kicks. Do you do that in a regular class? I haven't previewed the other DVDs but I am expecting for the HIIT workouts to have switch knees, jumping front snap kicks, and possibly jumping side kicks.
  3. Welllll ... your husband sounds kind of ridiculous. If he loves wrestling so much he such just do it himself. Wrestling is NOT for every talented child. Besides, your son could hate it now and like it later in life. If your son is talented in wrestling, he might be talented in some other sport. Wrestling is a GRIND and if you don't love it or have the desire to stick with, it. totally. #$%ing. SUCKS.
  4. I keep losing track of these threads. I started Les Mills Combat with my youngest two. So the first workout is Kickstart and it is only 30 minutes. I did sweat but it wasn't that intense for me, perfect for my kids though and really, we are doing this for them. I have reached the point where I just need to maintain. I don't need to get smaller or anything.
  5. somebody help me find the exercise thread?

  6. Hey! Just figured out this status update thing. Yay! Be prepared for nonsense!

    1. Avila
    2. GWOB

      GWOB

      I kinda like your nonsense.

  7. Alexander McCall Smith makes you think? Hmmm, all I get out of it is nostalgia and, "That was very pleasant." And I eagerly await his next book.
  8. It's not required to pray to the saints. The great thing about the saints is that they show us how it is done (to be a Catholic, a friend of God).
  9. Hellzzz yeah - anything (adult) by Alexander McCall Smith A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle Toujours Provence by Peter Mayle Adventures with Knife, Spoon, and Fork by Peter Mayle Nearly everything by Bill Bryson BUT he has adult humor. He is mostly known for his travelogues. Don't care for heavy duty reading either. BTW, these are not dumb books, say, like Twilight and Shades ... I like light but not so light that I am enraged by their stupidity.
  10. Based on your son's interest in TKD, I would recommend Les Mills Combat. It is by the same company that produced P90X. I am starting it myself on Monday. sending you a pm
  11. What does he want to achieve? Does he want to bulk or just be better at sports? FTR, I don't think P90X is too intense. There is a lot of instruction and modification. There is P90 as well. Jennifer in MI's teenager has successfully complete P90X and I think he is the same age as your son.
  12. Try a trail 1/2 marathon. way cool experience
  13. We are listening to it now for review. At the end of each semester the kids have an oral exam. You could incorporate this in your homeschool catechism; lots of history and background information is woven into each lesson. It's great for newbies.
  14. I don't have a site per se but Vatican I dealt with the infallibility of the pope. Vatican II was really broad and addressed a lot. Here is the class my kids and I are taking on Vatican II this year. Basically we read the documents and the priest discusses it. There are audio links to his lectures.
  15. I like videos by Baron Baptiste. He is a very good instructor. He is, I believe, a Hare Krishna and uses that kind of music. He doesn't evangelize as far as I can tell.
  16. I've got nothing for you but prayers for rejuvenation.
  17. I liked your comment but do you know how many books that I have already purchased and not finished. Shameful really. If you guys do this, have fun! @justamouse, thanks for thinking of me. I still hate this new board. I can't find anything and lose track of threads so I avoid the boards. Thank you all for the Gregorian links. I will look at them at little later. Swamped. I did buy the leather cover for the Magnificant. So purty! I ordered it from catholiccompany.com
  18. @thescrappyhomeschooler .... apparently, I am stalking you. On a serious note, I have tried other programs but MUS seems to be trucking along pretty well here. I am a little nervous. I plan to supplement with a hardcore Classical Catholic math program. Our highest level with MUS is Pre-algebra. All three of my children are using MUS.
  19. Okay, here is an odd topic. How does one learn Gregorian chant? There are 3 that Catholics ought to know according to Vatican II (somewhere). I know one is the Angelus and probably the other is the Pater Noster. But anyway, I thought we could learn that instead of dopey church music. Anybody have ideas?
  20. I am always in and always flop. I don't think audiobooks should count though. I have tons of them but I use them to cheat!
  21. Waving my hand just to say, "Hi", self-proclaimed useless Catholic (but Catholic nonetheless).
  22. Shorts bursts of exercise if they are intense do work. I mean, there are all different ways of getting fit. Short bursts, long hauls, circuit training, cross training - it all depends on what you want. Stick with what you find tolerable, 15 minutes twice a day for your sense of well-being is the right course for *you*.
  23. I am here. Where is Nono? Anyway, I have another 1/2 marathon trail at the end of the January. Haven't started training for it yet.
  24. Yes, I have seen martial arts in action. No, I don't think there is anything special in MA, over other sports, that would help with spaz behavior. I don't really recommend starting MA in young kids to modify behavior. It can be useful for burning off energy. If you need to do that and want a combat sport, I suggest wrestling or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
