Just a couple minutes ago (Friday 6/19 about 8p.m.) I took a look at Blessed Little Homestead facebook page. Per fb, two minutes prior, Nicole posted a poem allegedly written by Jacob. She put a watermark of Jacob's supposed signature at bottom of poem. A poster immediately recognized the poem and stated that she had read it before but could not remember who had written it. Wonder if Jacob has read the poem his parent claims he wrote. When I refreshed page a minute or two later, Nicole's post was gone. The poem was the one that starts out with, "A careless word may kindle strife..... " Is is apparent that I spent my day off work in an unproductive manner that preparing organic vegetables and grilling salmon cannot redeem?

Per Nicole's blogs, they have been reported to CPS in Texas, Maine and multiple times in Kentucky. Allegedly all calls were baseless and made out of spite. She implies that the Texas anonymous call was related to big ole meanies trying to steal Alex Naugler away from his father. The Maine caller claimed that the Naugler home was filthy. The odds of unfounded CPS contact in three states is exceedingly low in my opinion although I have no statistics to back up my assumption.

On Blessed Little Homestead, Nicole Naugler stated that person who called CPS did it purely out of spite and had never been on her property. So I was wondering how she knows who placed the call or if she is guessing? Also it is possible that someone who was familiar with Nauglers revealed his/her firsthand knowledge of living situation to the person who ultimately called. I remain unclear on whether there was only person who called CPS in KY or if there were multiple calls. I believe I recall reading on her blog that while she was a Maine resident, someone called CPS on her for dirty home.

I thought that generally child protective services kept caller identity confidential. Do they reveal who caller was only if caller's claim is unfounded?

We had an open-door policy except certain rooms were off limit as well as certain behaviors. I never felt like I was having to babysit because the open-door policy was instituted for each kid when kid and friends old enough and well behaved enough to not need ongoing supervision. However, we did put limits on ages of children who could use pool and had talk with parents first if parents were available. We served inexpensive snacks like PBJ sandwiches, popcorn, Koolaid and fruit in season. The kids whose parents habitually failed to check on them would be invited to join us for dinner. The positive thing about being the house where kids gather is that you get to know your children's friends well. My kids usually picked friends of strong character. Sadly sometimes the "normal family dynamics" their friend observes in your home may be one of the few positive experiences in that kid's life at the time. I am a shy, socially awkward introvert but the children's friends in my home never made me feel out of sorts. Now if I had had a friend of my own over for extended hours, I would feel pressure inside to keep conversation moving along.

Thus, if it is accurate that the person who contacted police is no smaller or older than Mr. Naugler and there have not been substantial changes in Mr. Naugler's dimensions, then the complainant, allegedly a female neighbor, is at least 5'8", possibly 6'0" or more, around or over 250 pounds and younger than 40. Further, if it is true that the mother of the menacing victim was inside the home, logically the mother would have to have been older than her adult child and Mr. Naugler. Wonder if six feet tall 250 pound women are common in the area.

Neither Income tax nor gift tax is levied a second time on the donee. If you give your child $100,000, your child does not have to pay income tax (or gift tax) on the $100,000. You have already paid the income tax on the $100,000. However, it could affect your child's eligibility for certain benefits and would count as child's assets on the FAFSA.

I read some posts on Blessed Little Homestead facebook page yesterday. Obviously they are understandably deleting rude mean-spirited unsupportive comments which were left in last ten days or so. However, what has me curious is that only supportive comments appear prior to the now nationwide notoriety. I wonder why none of the fellow homesteaders gently pointed out certain basics like properly segregating farm animal living quarters from humans and other glaring mistakes that broke inexperienced homesteaders make/made. A legitimate investor would not sink funds into a pet grooming salon to be operated by someone with problematic financial history in a small town where there already is an existing supposedly successful salon. Per Mrs. Naugler's own words, she had a dispute with her employer who owned a grooming salon. She felt she was underpaid and taken advantage of, which certainly could be accurate. The photos of salon showed wooden tables. Wood cannot be effectively sanitized; I was surprised the tables were not stainless steel.

I am on the board of a local not-for-profit and do some other volunteer projects through work. When I mostly stayed home with my children, I fostered children through state for few years and then switched to fostering dogs.
