poppy
An acquaintance of mine has a son who always wears lightly-colored sunglasses. I've seen pics of him from age 4 to age 14 and I've never seen him without the colored lenses. They are more like tinted glasses than sunglasses, really. I can see his eyes through them. I'm guessing he has an eye issue? I am curious and I'm sure someone here would know. I don't think it would be polite to ask ,and google isn't telling me.
zoobie
Are they the possibly the lenses that change automatically in light? My stepmother has them, and in pictures, they always look tinted.
Arcadia
My DS11 wears transition lenses which looks like tinted sunglasses because it is more comfortable with his astigmatism. The sudden glare when crossing the street to the park is painful. I have photosensitive eyes and astigmatism. I wore tinted glasses to public school and college. Then switch to transition lenses when those became available at my optician shop. A former school mate is albino and has to wear sunglasses at all times while in school. You could still see the outline of his eyes.

EKS
Possibly they're Irlen lenses? This was my first thought too.
Lanny
There are two (2) Tint colors that cut down on glare from lights, etc. The next time we order eyeglasses from ZenniOptical.com for my wife and DD, I am going to have their lenses Tinted 10% I think Grey and Amber are the colors that are recommended for general use with computers, etc., but am not positive as I write this, which colors are recommended. Lanny
Follow on, quoted from this URL: http://www.zennioptical.com/faq/what-lens-tint-is-right-for-me?count=9&subcount=6#faqTopic A 10 percent tint, in amber or yellow, reduces eyestrain and is good for activities requiring visual contrast. A 10 percent pink tint is recommended for people sensitive to light, especially people who get migraine headaches.
Jann in TX
I agree-- probably Iren lenses. My middle dd has used them off and on for years. She has dyslexia and they seem to help. She will alternate with wearing colored glasses or just using colored overlays. Different colors are for different issues-- she went to a Irlen specialist to find the best color/combination for her.
fairfarmhand
There's an eye disorder that causes problems with tracking especially black on white such as print. The tinted lenses help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest
Possibly they're Irlen lenses? Interesting site. I just went there and did their little "click this color" thingy and I do prefer the world through rose colored glasses! :0)
