Farrar
For me, it's like that every week when I pick up all my requested books from the library! But there's something extra special about owning the books. We get too many library books all the time. ;)
4ofus
Farrar, your books sound excellent! I hope you review them!
RootAnn
Writing Magic :001_wub: We love this book. Well, dd#1 doesn't. But most of the rest of us do. Hope you enjoy it.

I originally bought it for a warm up of sorts for the teens' novel writing elective. The more I flip through it the more I think it could be fun to do as a family. 4ofus
But there's something extra special about owning the books. We get too many library books all the time. ;) OT, but, we're prepping our house to list & our realtor said, "too many books, if you're not going to read them in the next couple of months, box them up & store them." There was a moment there when the boys & I audibly sucked in our breath before I said, "okay." We're actually REALLY good about going through our shelves & turning them in to the used book store for credit every few months. I only have 3 medium bookcases (one in the den & 2 in the bonus room) & when we accumulate more than we can store neatly on those shelves, we clean out & sell. Apparently, families shopping for houses will find my bookshelves full of books distracting. The shelves should not be full, not even neatly full. We put our house on the market a few years ago for a very short time before we decided to wait, & a lady that I became friends with LATER found out where we lived & said, "We looked at your house to buy. I couldn't even look at the house for looking at your homeschool books. We use almost the same things!" So, I guess the realtor is on to something. Don't leave out things that will distract the buyers ;).

Farrar
We actually did a big book purge. But "will we want to read this for school?" was one of the questions. A lot of books stayed for that reason.
Roadrunner
Philosophy for Kids . When you get a feel for this program, I would love to hear your take on it. We have been thinking about creating a winter semester, when we block off January to do just one subject. I want to give this book along with some other philosophy resources a try. We're going to use it with Philosophy Rocks! and some other stuff. I'm hoping it goes well. We'll see, I guess... But I haven't really been disappointed by anything I've gotten from Prufrock Press, I'll say.

And I hadn't seen A Little History of Philosophy! I had heard they were doing a series to go with Little History but this is nifty. I guess I'm not done ordering books after all... Loesje22000
I'm still waiting for a book I ordered a while ago. I discovered recently why: It will be released in september...
Roadrunner
I have couple more in the mail. My big box day won't be till September though, since I will get a ton of stuff through the charter, and that takes time. :(
Peaceful Isle
We are moving next week, and it is all too real how many books I have at the moment!! It took me two days to organize, give some away, and pack them.
MEmama
My big Hooray! moment this week was clearing OUT a huge pile of books. Still a stack in the dining room that gets to go--I can't wait. Nothing says New School Year to me than emptier shelves. Ahhh... :). Now if only I could keep them that way!
