Bostonian
Penn State Online http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/StudentServices_HighSchoolStudents.shtml (seems pretty restrictive -- can only enroll in one course at a time)

MamaSprout
30 best high school online schools http://successfulstudent.org/30-best-online-high-schools/ Thanks! Does the Hive have any reviews on any of the schools? We're just looking for individual classes, and like that most of the uni schools are self-paced. I dispute the line in the article that it makes them public school kids to enroll, " Some students (maybe 20%) were homeschooled, however by enrolling in an online public school, these students become public school students." If it's privately funded ie, tuition-based, then it's not public school. There doesn't appear to be any contact information on the page, though.
EndOfOrdinary
Portland State is no longer accepting independent study students. Enrolled students can do distance learning from their degree program only.

TTUISD does not receive money from the State or Federal governments, it is funded by students paying for the courses they take. In that respect, it is like a Private School. However, they do operate under the regulations for Public Schools in the State of Texas. In that respect it is like a Public School. Individual TTUISD courses can be taken, as a "Supplemental" student, without enrolling in TTUISD. TTUISD courses are Asynchronous. There is a big difference between an "Online" course that is Synchronous and an Asynchronous course. My DD is "Enrolled" in Texas Tech University High School and she is subject to the same testing requirements as students in brick and mortar Public High Schools in Texas, with regard to the 5 EOC (End of Course) examinations required for graduation. If one is simply taking a few courses, as a Supplemental student, I doubt that would make them a Public School student... If they are "Enrolled", as my DD is, that is a different matter, with regard to the testing and requirements for the high school diploma. If you are interested in TTUISD, send them an email or call them on their toll free phone number. They are open Monday > Friday.
MamaSprout
http://www.thebestschools.org/rankings/best-online-high-school-diploma-programs/ The article above has a nice summary of the different school types. I don't see any school working as an all-in-one for us, but I do like the selection of self-paced courses University of Nebraska offers. I do have to laugh at Laurel Springs- their single course costs are higher than my graduate school classes. Sorry. Not happening here.

TTUISD currently charges USD $190 per semester for High School courses. Normally, one needs to purchase a traditional textbook, although the High School Math courses recently were changed and the new courses use eBooks, which will be good for us, because we live overseas. Most of the textbooks I've purchased for DD over the past 4 1/2 years have been purchased from Amazon Marketplace Sellers. A few for as little as one cent plus shipping. Several were purchased from eBay Sellers and on those textbooks, we saved $ by buying them on eBay. The Science courses also require things for lab experiments. TTUISD normally raises the cost of the courses, $5 or $10, at the beginning of September. Edited February 11, 2017 by Lanny
