Donovans4
my dd13 will be attending a white elephant gift exchange for the church youth group Christmas party on Sunday. The invitation states that white elephant gifts are "fun and funny." They also have a $5 limit. Any ideas? LauraD in MN
angela in ohio
The old standby is a package of batteries with a note attached that says, "Gift not included."
H.S. Burrow
We had this for 4-H. I bought $5 worth of candy. We were not the only family to do so. The candy gifts were a big hit. Some also did $5 gift cards to various stores and restaurants.
Halftime Hope
and over the years we've gotten: - Christmas hats (elf ears were a big hit, as were the ones with a pom-pom on a spring) from CVS or Walgreens - a Santa lightlight - Walmart has cute slippers with a big pom-pom on the toe. Dd picked up a pair today for their party tonight. - winter themed fleece throws -- Target has cute flannel PJ bottoms that the girls have fought over before! :) All of these have come in at $5 or 6 (the throw), so we've called it good. One year the kids fought over (stole the gift from each other) a short, squat travel mug with three or four hot choc and cider envelopes: go figure; you never know what will be a hit! hth
shell in SC
Those things are so much fun! I had as much fun as the kids did when DH and I were youth leaders. Ours was more of a "gag" type thing (b/c it was the whole group-girls and guys) and I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard! She's gonna have a ball! shell in SC
Just a suggestion though. . .if you do go the more "gag" route, you might also want to put a $5-$10 gift card with it. I felt bad b/c one kid got a purely gag gift that didn't even go home with him and other kids got gift cards.
BMW
My teens just had one... My boy opened 3 bear figurines and that was perfect... we loves bears and even though he is 15, he loved getting a few bears! He took an old lamp that we were donating to goodwill and people kept "stealing" the lamp one from another... several people wanted this old lamp! My daughter opened and brought home a toddler puzzle...
Miss Peregrine
I think the best gag gift is press-on toenails!
