kalanamak
Perhaps he'll go through a sloppy stage later, but he went to the first in a series of concerts yesterday and he had a tie, but no suit. Other kids were done up in evening wear. I have a month to find one. He requests black, and wondered if he could go "white tie", too. I don't think he's a changling....he looks like us! mazakaal
You can get a kid's suit at Sears or JC Penney. I think if he wanted to go formal, you'd have to go to a formal-wear shop. A normal adult formal-wear shop, that would rent/sell tuxedos, would also sell kids' sized tuxedos. Think 'ring-bearer'.
Michelle O. in MO
Believe it or not, I saw lots of children's black tie suits at Children's Orchard a few weeks back. You might give them a call first. Michelle
Philothea
I bought my son's coat and pants at Burlington coat factory. Someone gave me all of his various ties, and also a few shirts. But overall, I thought that the suit was really reasonably priced and good quality.
Blue Hen
My DS went through this stage too. He's now 12yo and still loves to get dressed up in a suit. Goodwill! Honestly. (JCPenny, Sears are great alternatives too but Goodwill is where I have found them for the lowest price). Carole
angela in ohio
We usually do Sears. They have great sales, and they are classic suits. You are lucky to have such good "peer pressure" for concerts. I make my dc wear dress clothes for concerts, but most other homeschoolers are in sweat pants or the equivalent. :001_huh:
yslek
I generally avoid Wal-Mart like the plague, but MIL (who loves WM) bought T a couple of suits there last year. They're by their "George" label, were pretty inexpensive, and have held up pretty well, too.
Janet in Toronto
Stores that specialize in first communion clothing would have lots of options.
PrairieAir
I think we bought a suit for 14yo(then 10yo)ds for about $40 including shoes, shirt, and tie at Burlington Coat Factory. It may not have been the finest quality available, but it looked sharp and served him well until he outgrew it. It was still nice enough to be a good bargain for the person who bought it at our garage sale.
mommylaw
I've purchased many suits for my boys on eBay.
LisaKinVA
If you can't find things at the 2nd hand shops as has been rec'd... The only place I've found that sells "suits" has been Burlington Coat Factory. They aren't horribly expensive (not incredible quality either) Every other place (Like, the catalog, "Wooden Soldier") -- you're looking a big bucks! vettechmomof2
My mother found some at her local thrift store. Perfect shape. 2 suits(different colors), a cordoury jacket(with the elbow patches) 3 shirts. THe only thing missing were shoes but he likes his cowboy boots. Good luck, Allene
SonshineLearner
Have you tried Used Children's stores? Or the Goodwill? I've found cute ones there. Or ask friends if they have any to loan/sell.... Carrie:-)

In The Great White North
2nd hand - Goodwill, Salvation Army, ebay etc. These things don't get worn out. I've found Children's Orchard and similar stores to be much more expensive than the above.
Guest Virginia Dawn
You can get one on e-bay for about $35.
