One is tearing up my side yard right now. Can your cat come over to play?

a friend shared how her next door neighbor brought over a huge basket of cat treats.  Apparently, her cat had got the mole he'd been battling.  and left it on his doorstep.

Our neighbor's cat used to catch moles.  The neighbor said he stopped because moles taste like dirt.

HOW DOES SHE KNOW THIS????

(I mean, it sort of makes sense, but it amuses me to speculate on her reasoning)

30 years ago, we had a neighbor's cat that did a fabulous job containing moles.  It turned me, a big dog person, into having an interest in cats.

while I'd like for dudeling to have a lap cat (he can get him to sit on a blanket on his lap. for a little bit.) - I'm thrilled he has such hunter instincts  . . .

Lol the neighbors next door had a cat that would bite off the head of little critters. And then leave them. Blech. But, darn other than that, she definitely kept the critters away.

he just leaves them on the deck outside the kitchen door.  Usually they're dead - but not always.   sometimes he only mortally wounds them - and gets affronted if I remove the critter.  He'll come back and check.  That's the extent of his interest in them.

there's a guy on youtube that hunts rats and muskrats with mink.  (he's made a business out of it as well as his youtube channel.) At least the mink will KILL it as soon as they catch it.  (He swaps their kill for prepared meat)
