Melissa in Australia Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Hi, MY DH's Aunt is turning 100. She lives in Germany. Does anyone have advice on the best way to arrange for some flowers to be sent to her? Is there a way to contact a florist in Germany to send he flowers or is there another way to do this? thank you 1 Quote
barnwife Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 I don't have any personal knowledge of such things. What I do have is a friend who now lives here in the US who grew up in Germany. I am posting in this thread to hopefully remember to check if you get suggestions/advice. If not, I'll call her and see what she says. 1 1 Quote

regentrude Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) Fleurop.de I ordered flowers for my mom recently, they were beautiful. The bouquets will be created by local florists near the recipient who participate in this network and will be delivered, not shipped. So, much fresher. Bambam Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 I don't know if this would work internationally, but when I send flowers to non-local people, I simply google and call a florist local to them. 1 Quote
Liz CA Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 I do contact local florists online or even call - time difference is awkward but can be done. I've had good results with this. Seems like they make an effort because they are local and the recipient is local so there is an incentive to deliver a decent product. I've had large arrangements delivered to weddings and funerals. I have never tried fleurop from the US. 1 Quote

I would recommend doing this by phone only if you're fluent in German. Also, credit card acceptance is very limited in Germany, and you can't count on being able to use the credit card to pay the individual florist. Going through the fleurop.de network means not having to worry about that; fleurop does take cc, even if the florist doesn't. Edited December 14, 2020 by regentrude 1 1 Quote
J-rap Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 I sent flowers to a relative in Sweden recently, and I used 1800flowers.com. They were very helpful, and communicated with me every step of the way. When there was a problem at the final end -- at the flower shop in Sweden -- they contacted me immediately. They were looking for a better phone number to contact the receiver of the flowers, which I was able to give them. My relative told me that the flowers arrived and were beautiful! 1 Quote

DH can understand German, but is very slow at speaking as his parents are German and spoke it at home, but dh hasn't practice for many years. Good to know about the credit card.
