Murphy101
And reusable! NOT shields. I need to buy about 12-20 of them for use by teachers of toddlers and preschoolers. Has anyone bought some that they felt were good enough to suggest daily use? Please let me know. PM if you’d rather. tia!
cintinative
My friend made one from cloth plus the plastic from a shield. The shield didn't work out because she said it didn't fit right and then when she tried to adjust it, it got worse. She said the pattern came from Ohio State university. This might be it?https://ada.osu.edu/mask-instructions-diy PIcture of her mask below. Maybe this would work? If you know people who can sew? I wonder if you used something else if you could use this anti fog spray? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PBCZ7C6/?coliid=I3T6ZSZB2X3B0P&colid=1NMYGEA2P1SKM&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

One thing I’m wondering about the clear panels — does the wearer’s breath make them fog up? I actually saw a clear panel mask 'in the wild' this weekend and it stayed clear when the wearer spoke. It was in a grocery store and she was talking to a stock person about something and I didn't see any fogging. I have zero idea what it was made of, though. Interestingly, I could hear her clearly, too, from a good 10 feet away, whereas people with cloth masks sound muffled to me even when I'm only six feet away. Part of me wishes I had waited until she was finished talking to the employee and asked her about it.

If you know people who can sew? those are very nice but alas I am so done Sewing it ain’t even funny. I’ve made over 300 regular masks and basicly never ever want to look at a sewing machine again ever. I don’t know anyone else to do it affordably either. 1 hour ago, Quill said: My friend who works with the deaf community is using these: https://www.theclearmask.com/product Those would not be allowed bc technically it is not considered a mask. It’s a shield bc the sides of the face are open. I’m not worried about fog. I can fix that.

I’m coping with life okay so far. Mommy-ing is hard these days and people-ing is hard too. But I’m trying to focus on life’s good. In this case, I’m trying to buy some clear masks that can be used at our catechist of the good shepherd program that starts in a couple weeks since not seeing faces of care givers is developmentally unhealthy for the very young but masks for all older people is still needed.

The website claims that it blocks aerosols. "Through the mask’s anti-fog, transparent plastic barrier, the ClearMask™ blocks aerosols, fluids and sprays from our faces". Judging from the photos and video on the site, I can't see how this "mask" can possibly "block aerosols" !!!! Buyer beware, I think. (The plastic itself might be impermeable to aerosols, but they certainly will enter the mask - and the respiratory system of the wearer- through the obvious gaps at the sides of the "mask")
Wheres Toto
I'm using face shields with side drapes that cover the gaps around the sides and bottom. Would something similar work for the half face shields/masks listed above? A folded bandana or similar piece of cloth could probably be attached to the ear loops to cover the sides and run under the chin, or small pieces of cloth separate on each side.
