LMD
Okay, I'm terminally fashion challenged. I bought this dress to wear to some formal-ish events this summer. For casual events I'd wear either my doc martens or havianas, depending on the weather. I need to be a bit more grown up and I really have no idea what kind of nice shoes 'go' with this dress... Thoughts? Pics and links would be soooo helpful! Less heel is better, I am not graceful.
Carol in Cal.
Ballet slipper type flats would be nice, particularly ones with a bright pop of color. Backless or slingback sandals with medium heels would be nice, too.

LMD
Thank you! I'm pleased to see ballet flats mentioned, I was thinking that but wasn't sure if it was too immature/casual. Thoughts on colours? I was thinking a nice blue would contrast, with some blue jewellery? But I'm totally open to other ideas. I'm pretty sure black wouldn't work. Carol in Cal.
Definately not black. Royal blue would totally pop. I'd consider red, although it might clash, but it might pop zingy. A bright clear yellow would be totally awesome. Conservativeish would be bone. White would be boring. Black would clash.

I just realized you said for summer which makes me think you are in the Southern Hemisphere. If it is actually summer where you are, you could pull off sandals or a wedge too. I don’t care for the white sole on these, but a quick search turned these up and I think something similar could work with this dress. https://www.buckle.com/steven-klein-sandal/prd-83621NCKLEIN/sku-9458903550/i18n:us?vsm=1&color=silver&size=us+7&blLocaleCode=en_US&blCurrencyCode=USD&gclid=CjwKCAjworfdBRA7EiwAKX9HeMgHPRPVlD8FIDCtVZvkadfN-JZq60JUzPChqWcGeOof0qLyDSD69hoC56QQAvD_BwE&ad=192307017579
LMD
Thank you, yes southern hemisphere. Both events will be during warmer weather. Cecropia
Limited to flats or a tiny heel, I'd wear a shoe that somewhat matches my skin tone, to make my legs look as long as possible. I'd be wary of horizontal ankle straps, because they visually cut me off at the ankle and appear to shorten my legs. That may just be me, though! I like these because they keep with the floral theme of the dress. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D5OTEFE/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_UJXRBbXCZG4VP
LMD
Hmm, good thinking on the ankle strap. I think you may be right. I am quite liking these ones: https://www.amazon.com/Easy-Spirit-Womens-Cindie-Dress/dp/B01MV0E6Z7?th=1&psc=1 Or these from the same brand: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B077YR7C44/ref=cts_sh_1_vtp?ie=UTF8&pi=SL110&dpPl=1&dpID=41kRLih2mrL&th=1&psc=1 Edited September 29, 2018 by LMD
Ausmumof3
They’d look good! Otherwise if you go for white go for something with a bit of glitz.

They would be adorable with the dress.
J-rap
Hmmm... Can you wear sandals? I'm not a fancy-schmancy person either, and comfort comes first for me. I recently bought these and love them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011EZKK5O/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
KungFuPanda
A nude heel is my answer when I can’t make shoe decisions. ?
