Good morning and welcome to the Lounge!

Today's theme stems from the fact that I've been "awake" for about an hour, have been sipping on coffee, and still don't feel awake. Could be a long day . . .

Anyone else feeling sluggish today? Here: see above! I might take my dog for a walk outside on a hiking trail in a bit. Or I might just go myself!

Okay, and my brain refuses to give me more questions, so . . .

It's your turn to ask the questions! Fire away!

Talk to me! :bigear:

For a change, I'm feeling wide awake. I've already been out driving dd to her internship and the dog to the groomer. There's more driving to come, as I have to pick up dd and the dog again.

Question for a lady of the desert: how do you decide on your front/back yard landscaping, and whether to go with a lawn or not?

wintermom, that's easy: I live in a townhouse!

Actually, I would LOVE to have a yard! What seems to be typical of people in single detached houses here is to

xeriscape the front lawn (landscape with native plants) and then to customize their backyard. Some do have lawns (grass) but

keep in mind that will require a lot more water and will raise your water bill. But then some have gardens, too, which I imagine does

the same thing. it really depends on what you want your yard to do for you and how much time and money you're willing to invest in it.

Does that answer your question?  ;)

Good morning (afternoon here already), Scrap!

I don't feel sluggish, but I did feel sleepy earlier last night than usual.

Will you direct me to some good resources on autism?

My dd has been taking some tests online (which I know aren't always acurate), and she tests mildly on the spectrum. She is highly intelligent but does struggle with relationships, her emotions, etc. Looking back, I wish I had known more about it. I think I contributed some behavior to certain things I thought were just aspects of her personality. Some of it came with puberty, so I though it was hormonal. She has mild PCOS, too, so maybe hormones at least play a part.

So, it's pretty much the same as here. There seem to be more and more city people opting for non-lawn landscaping. They want to avoid most yard work, mowing, watering and weeding. I don't think it's a question of cost of water as we have plenty of that.

I assumed that water and heat were major factors in the desert. I'm surprised people even bother with lawns in Arizona. They don't look as natural or interesting as plants and cacti.

My dh loves mowing the lawn. He'd love a really big yard and a ride-on mower.

Very sluggish. It's cold, gray and threatening icy rain. Not ice, just miserable, cold rain.

What's the weather like your way?

I'm finishing up some Latin and grammar, and then I'll clean the kitchen. Then write.

I need to farm out both my teens for a day. Or a week. I get so tired of their first conversation each day resulting in yelling.

I've tried and tried to get them to not do so but...and today, my brain has gone on vacation I think. Wish it had taken me with it!

I'm having a hard enough time just figuring out what's next for us to do, or what lessons are next, etc. We've had way too much time off already, I don't want to waste anymore time. Blah. . .

Good afternoon!

Coffee fixed my initial sluggishness and I had a productive morning doing desk work while Ds slept way, way late. He was absolutely sluggish!

No real school today for him, but that's ok. I figure, if a 10 yr old can sleep 12 hrs (after 2 late nights in a row), he needs the sleep. We have a crazy week and we can be more flexible if my kids are rested.

Anyone else longing for spring? It is cold and gray here and I am tired of the winter gloom.

Sluggish here too but because it's hot. We're expecting a couple of days of heat. We're not doing well with getting school flowing smoothly yet this year. There's been a few hiccoughs and I have the horrible nagging "behind" feeling.

Today's going to be a light day though because my house needs some attention and we have friends over after lunch. Is socialisation a subject? 😂

Ok my question

Do any of you have chooks? I'm assuming in a town house maybe not? Although I've heard some people do keep bantams in apartments...

We have five black australorps. Two Roos and three hens.

ausmom, while I would love to have enough land to have chickens, you're right: not in a townhouse!

ScoutTN, and anyone else, you're welcome to come visit us in AZ! In Phoenix and the surrounding area, we're averaging high temps

in the 70s. Went hiking with the dog around 11am this morning and it was the 60s. Let me know when you're on your way and I'll find some decent, affordable lodging for you!
