melmac
I'm so sad, for her and for him.
melissel
Oh no!!! How sad for all of them. To not have her around for tomorrow (and what will come after, either way) must be completely devastating.
Spy Car
I just hear this. How sad she didn't live to see one more day.

Emmy
That's heart breaking - I can't imagine how proud she must have been! Imagine your grandson running for President - I agree, so sad she didn't live one more day.
Tracey in TX
How awful for him. What could've been a joyous and nerve-wracking week will be instead filled with sadness. :(
Linda...inOwasso
What horrible timing. Very sad, indeed.

Doran
No doubt, this is a heartbreaking time for this family. But, to consider the positive as well, maybe she was content just knowing how far he has come, and what he has already accomplished. Sometimes, the dying will "wait" until they or their loved ones are ready for them to move on. I'm trying to imagine that she was completely at peace with making her exit now, and that if there is future celebrating to be done, she can still do that from a new perspective. :) Just my own little way of looking at things. Catherine
at age 96. I think losing someone like this can be akin to losing a parent.
Sparkle
I'm sorry for Mr. Obama. I hope he is able to have some time to grieve. What a difficult thing to have happen.
Veritaserum
How sad, especially given the timing. :( No doubt, this is a heartbreaking time for this family. That's a good point. When dh's grandma passed away the family gathered in the days leading up to it. Grandma's oldest son was still en route. She hung on until he got there so she could say goodbye to him. Then she left us. My nurse friend says she's seen that a lot, too. Hopefully Obama's grandma passed peacefully. :)
Tracey in TX
at age 96. I think losing someone like this can be akin to losing a parent. Having lost both I can say that I wouldn't put the two losses on the same level of grief. I will forever be saddened by the loss of my father at only 53y/o, whereas I celebrate the long and full life of my grandparents.
