I know it will differ from state to state but in general is this usually done in the family or caregiver's home or do I need to open my home? If the latter, does it matter that we rent? Respite is provided in our home I could ask a provider to act as a "mother's helper" type of job. The main restriction we have is the respite provider may not drive the children. We took the training classes for foster care at one point and found them awesome so that would be something to look into whether or not need or want to license. We did have an up-to-date homestudy at the time since we were in the process of adopting. We had the children stay with us at our home.
