ProudGrandma Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 My daughter just discovered these...and we are trying to find pieces...especially tiny fairies and gnomes. Where do you find the best deals on anything fairy garden? We did find a few things at Hobby Lobby, but ours didn't have any tiny fairies or gnomes. thanks. Quote
itsheresomewhere Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Garage sales and Amazon. DD and several of her friends are very into this and those are the two places I have had the best luck finding pieces. Quote
Happy Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I do! I found quite a bit at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago. You can also find things online....some get really pricey! Spring seems to be a better time to find things than right now. There are also some online tutorials for making small houses, etc. My time is limited so I don't do that. I have one garden for me... fairies, stone archway and bridge, some fanciful fencing, and a hidden sleeping dragon and plants We have another one in a different part of the yard that is my granddaughter's. A fanciful house, small animals--some are small plastic ones from the toy dept. I wanted things she could move around and play with when she visits. No plants in that one. Check out pinterest for ideas, but remember the big fun is just having one to play with--it doesn't have to be fancy. Quote
Starr Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Dd made her fairies with wooden non spring clothes pins and fabric. We found hair at the craft stores. Have fun. 2 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Make your own! https://www.amazon.com/Gnome-Craft-Book-Thomas-Berger/dp/0863157211/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474984722&sr=8-1&keywords=gnome+craft https://www.amazon.com/Fairy-House-Furniture-Miniatures-Materials/dp/1939629691/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1474984782&sr=1-3&keywords=fairy+houses But if I wanted to buy supplies, I would go to this crazy store that I love. They sell, get this, carnivorous plants and fairy garden supplies. It's the quirkiest, coolest garden store EVER. I've been there several times. They also have things like a sculpture of a 5 foot long alligator, just the parts that would be above the water, in three pieces, to install in your pond. Or a miniature hobbit house to put into a terrarium. It is absolutely awesome. https://www.worldsrareplants.com/home Here is the fairy garden detail from that store: https://www.worldsrareplants.com/store/category/fairy-garden Edited September 27, 2016 by Carol in Cal. 1 Quote
Seasider Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 We have used Christmas ornaments, look for fairies and such when stores start putting out holiday stuff. For dwellings, check WalMart or wherever in the aquarium supplies department. Quote
Spryte Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Please - you must let her check out Urban Fairy Operations! I see a fairy door in your future. :) We make ours from dollhouse doors. The one outside is painted to match our front door, with a matching knocker. They decorate for holidays, too. In fact, we have a fairy haunted house complete with tombstones and skeletons, but that came later. I was just unpacking it today. Santa and the Easter bunny leave fairy gifts, too. Michael's, Amazon, a store called And That, and Hearthsong are our go to sources. Quote

Shred Betty Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 My mom does. It looks to me like she buys things that I'd see in an aquarium, like the bridge and so on look like stuff from a pet store. Quote
Melissa in Australia Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 My dd does. She either makes things or gets things from opshops Quote
